As has been explained, MOPAR rejected your claim was they no longer manufacture this part for your 2012 Chrysler 200, and they do not warranty aftermarket parts. MOPAR did offer to buy your vehicle out of warranty. If you would like to contest any part of this, you would need to do so directly with MOPAR. The dealership merely facilitates repairs under MOPAR direction. We do not have any say in warranty approvals or coverage.

Danbury would NOT contact Mopar until I got the Department of Consumer Protection involved. They are the ones that got Danbury to respond. Why should anyone have to go through all that?

Your warranty is with MOPAR. They offered to buy your vehicle out of warranty because they would not pay for aftermarket parts for it. This confirms our original statements to you. If you are upset the vehicle repair was not covered, you must speak with MOPAR, the warrantor.

No where in the Mopar Warranty does it say that only if they can find the parts. So Mopar sold me a Warranty that they will not honor and I therefore purchased $2,500. Piece of paper, worth nothing if the dealer doesn’t want to spend the time or money to fix a COVERED repair.

Unfortunately, the dealership does not have any discretion over what does or does not get approved for warranty coverage. We recommend you file a case directly with MOPAR to see if they will issue a waiver for the repair. We apologize for any confusion. This repair cannot be covered by the MOPAR warranty because they no longer manufacture the required parts to repair your convertible top. The MOPAR warranty only covers repairs completed with certified MOPAR parts. You, of course, are welcome to pay for the repairs to be completed with aftermarket parts.

I was unable to locate a record under this name to find the specifics of the diagnosis, but electrical issues can sometimes be difficult to pinpoint and we would always err on the side of the least expensive fix first before jumping to the expense of a battery replacement. The batteries certified by the factory are generally designed to work the best, and after-market or non-brand parts can cause issues, but, of course, you are welcome to have the vehicle evaluated elsewhere or replace the battery yourself.
