Buyer Beware! We bought 3 used vehicles from this dealership. On the third, a used 2018 Mini Cooper Countryman, we bought a bumper to bumper extended warranty. They insisted that if something happened to the car, it would be covered except for regular wear and tear items. After owning the car for about 18 months, the car was sounding rough. We took it to a European Car Mechanic shop that specializes in Mini Coopers. They checked the motor and found that two of the engine valves were burned, one of the valves had been bouncing in the motor, causing damage to the cylinder wall, bad enough to need a new motor. The estimate was $18,000 for the new motor and repairs. The mechanic shop contacted the warranty company and they informed them that engine valves are an exclusion to the policy. We were totally misinformed about this policy exclusion from Dave Smith Motors. The warranty company sent us additional pages of exclusions that we had never seen before nor signed. We had previously bought two other cars from this dealership. The dealership declined to help us out at all! I would have been happy if they offered to pay half of the motor. I have never felt so decieved. I can't believe they treat people this way. i would give them 0 stars, but I think I had to put 1 star to make the review. They only want sales. They really don't want or care to help out my husband and I, two senior military veterans. More

In November 2022, we were charged a fee of $150 for "Hand Buff Synthetic Sealant," which we were not aware of, nor did we ask for it. I called on it in October 2025 about it due to Gap Insurance asking for i Buff Synthetic Sealant," which we were not aware of, nor did we ask for it. I called on it in October 2025 about it due to Gap Insurance asking for it, thinking it's some aftermarket contract. The Dealership stated they had changed the name of it to avoid confusion to " Dealership prep fee". However, they did send me a paper stating what the fee is for. I just wish we had been told years ago about it, as we were all thinking we paid for something and didn't get it. More
This was my second vehicle purchase from Dave Smith Motors; Tanner was my salesman. He was awesome to work with; there were no surprises or hiccups. I went online and selected my accessories ahead of time, so when I arrived, they were already on the vehicle. I sent pictures of my trade-in ahead of time so when I arrived with my title in hand the transaction went very smooth. I was in and out of their office in just over an hour, not bad considering I drove in from out of state. Tanner was great, he made this process so easy and painless, thank you!! More

I went to this dealership to buy my new pickup. Mainly because of all the advertisements. I was given a price that I thought was reasonable and agreed to purchase over the phone. The finance manager contacted me multiple times wanting to sell me extended coverage. I finally did decide to purchase. It's a very hurried up process when you go to pick up your vehicle. They insist everything is signed for on docu sign. Which is fine but most people, myself included, do this on their phones and don't bother to enlarge the paper work and actually read it. BIG MISTAKE. And I'm sure that is why it's done that way. I was quoted and charged more for the extended warranty than it actually was. I insisted on paying up front for the warranty, and not having it on my financing. They took the money, applied it as if it were part of the down payment and added the warranty to my financing. I never received a contract for the warranty and after several phone messages about this issue, they have still not returned my calls. They also told me that for being a first time customer, they were going to give me theft protection on my new pickup. When I finally got home and was going over the paperwork I had signed, it turns out they charged me for that theft protection! I drove home 500 miles the same day I purchased. About a week later, I washed the pickup and discovered it had a small dent in the fender. I emailed pics and description of dent and have heard nothing back. This dealership will ABSOLUTELY ghost you once you've driven off their lot. Vehicle is gone, they have their money, and they could care less about customers after the sale More

I recently purchased a truck from Dave Smith Motors in Kellogg, Idaho, and unfortunately, my experience was extremely disappointing. The finance process was conducted unethically. Duke, the finance manager, misrepresented his ability to secure a low interest rate even though I have an A+ credit rating and made a large down payment of over 20%. When I raised the issue with both the Director of Finance and the General Manager, the dealership failed to follow through on the promises they made to resolve the matter. To make matters worse, even after 30 days of receiving the truck, I still have not received copies of the sales paperwork, financing documents, or the warranty that was guaranteed to come with the vehicle. Both the salesperson and the finance manager repeatedly boasted that they were “the best in the business” and “the best at communication,” yet it was nearly impossible to get a call back. I had to escalate to upper management & that was just as bad… When the vehicle finally arrived, it was also missing items that had been promised and supposedly “double-checked” before the sale was finalized. This shows a serious lack of honesty and accountability. Buyer beware—whatever good reputation this dealership once had is no longer the case. You’ll likely find a better deal and more transparent process at your local dealership, without the added cost and hassle of traveling to Kellogg. I will also be filing a formal complaint with the Idaho Transportation Department regarding these practices. More

From the first phone call until I walked out with my pre owned Ram 1500, I was treated with respect. My sales representative was amazing and I kept him on his toes searching for the right pickup.
