It looked beaut EXACTLY WHAT YOU HATE ABOUT USED CAR SALES WEDNESDAY 2/12/2020, my girlfriend and I bought a 2012 Dodge Caliber with 106,000 miles. It looked beautiful, drove beautifully on the test drive, and was two owner with nothing of interest on the CarFax. We paid $7000 out the door, exactly. And we paid it all. Zero financing. FRIDAY 2/14/2020, the car broke down on I-4. It was later in the day and couldn’t get it to the dealership before the service center closed, so we asked the used car salesman, Javier, what we should do. He advised to wait until Tuesday (Monday was Presidents’ Day) to bring it back in and have them look at it. TUESDAY 2/18/2020, we brought the car in. They point blank wouldn’t even look at it without us paying $129 for diagnostics, and then they offered to pay exactly NOTHING for the repairs. Javier told us that this is the danger of buying a used car, and when I asked to speak with someone about it besides him, I was told there was nobody to talk to about it. Yes, we signed a form taking the car “As-Is” without any warranty. That said, we paid them $7000 for a car that lasted 2 days before breaking down, and they wouldn’t even diagnose it without charging us. If we bought this 2000lb paperweight from a guy at a garage sale, this is what I would expect in terms of customer service. But I was born and raised here in DeLand and I expected a lot more from a dealership that puts this town’s name on its sign. Cliff Notes: Bought car for $7000 paid in full. Broke down 2 days later. Dodge dealership and salesman do NOTHING. Exactly what you fear will happen when you buy a used car from a slick talking salesman at a dealership that cares only about dollars. Shame on y’all. More
