This is a follow-up to a one star review that I gave Desert Toyota nearly three years ago. Since that time, new information has become available that directly relates to my experience. My vehicle was Desert Toyota nearly three years ago. Since that time, new information has become available that directly relates to my experience. My vehicle was equipped with a dealer installed TRD supercharger. This is important because it is now widely known that this option can significantly contribute to the catalytic converter failure I experienced. There are many shops aware of this and several countermeasures are available. Desert Toyota was unable to properly diagnose the issue, and spent many hours and replaced several perfectly good parts in an unsuccessful attempt to locate the problem. They even went so far as to fabricate a lie in order to shift the repair from warranty to customer pay. Why would they do this? Because Toyota Motor Company will not pay a dealer's warranty claim without a defective part as proof of the part failure. They were about to lose a lot of money in parts and labor time because they were only making poor guesses as to the cause. As I said previously, many good parts were replaced in their expensive shotgun therapy approach to diagnosis, and the vehicle still was not repaired. Being a technically minded person, I provided Desert with numerous resources that debunked their ridiculous contention, including independent test results of the good components that were replaced. Even when presented with several undeniable facts, the management of Desert Toyota continued to steadfastly stand behind the deception they created. I can't begin to describe the betrayal I felt. As more and more of these failures and their cause become known around the country, it becomes more obvious that Desert was not only incompetent, but actually committed fraud. Sadly, this is how my 14 year relationship with Desert Toyota ended. They are all smiling and friendly as long as you go along with what they have in mind. I believe they prefer an ignorant consumer and despise an educated one. The good in all of this is that I have found integrity, competence and honesty in the folks at Sierra Toyota. Precision hasn't been too bad either. If you must do business with Desert, please be informed and be cautious. More

I made a deal on a used 2008 4Runner.Everybody was very friendly. While I was waiting half an hour for a available Finance Person I decided to take another look at the vehicle. I found the skid plate had way to much damage on it for a one year old 4X4, and there was more damage on the roof (mulitple dents). So I felt this truck had been abused in its short life and did not want to pay for a car someone had beat up. They were not happy when I said I wanted to sleep on it, the smiles turned to angry frowns and the manager "Matt" said he could not give me same deal tomarrow. I left feeling like I had just insulted thier mothers. Not a pleasant experience. More

The salesmen were both very pleasant, but their sales manager was very rud Thank You Desert Toyota! I guess we really must thank Precision Toyota. The salesmen were both very pleasant, but their sales manager was very rude...he told us that if we were going to pit his salesman against each other he would prefer we just go somewhere else (his accusation was completely false) but we took his advice and went to Desert Toyota where we bought not one but two new vehicles the following week. A 2008 Toyota Tundra and an 08 Toyota Scion. The prices at Desert Toyota were unbeatable and they were willing to negotiate the price and our trade-ins. Combined we still spent over $50,000 and we are extremely pleased that the money went to Desert and not Precision. We have told anyone and everyone that we know and who comes through our business to never deal with Precision Toyota when they can go to Desert. The one thing I do want to say is that I have bought a vehicle from David at Precision Scion, who was an absolute dream to work with and I would have purchased from him again if Precision Toyota was not so rude to us. I did take my old scion to the maintenance department at Precision and was not real impressed there. Four hours for an oil change seemed extreme, but the free shuttle to the mall was nice. They never did fix the problem with my window..... For a brief explanantion... Went to Precision and talked to Brett about the Tundra. He was pleasant, but we wanted to think on the truck and the price. We went to the mall and a young man working at a kiosk noticed the Tundra book in our hand. He said his dad works in fleet at Precision and we should talk to him for a deal. Not realizing this would be a problem, we of course called Jaff for the great deal. He gave us a better price, but it was followed by a phone call from a salesmanager who was rude to the extreme feeling that we were pitting two of his guys against each other. First, it is our right to deal with whomever we want to. We could have gone to the lot the following day and dealt with a different salesman..that is our right! Out of principal we went to Desert and bought the EXACT same Tundra and at a lower price and they even added more options. I knew I was getting a new scion, and again, they gave me a great deal on my trade in so I went with them. We wanted to avoid Precision at all costs. We are both managers in a business and know how important customer service is. This was about 1 month ago and since then we have sent family, friends, and customers that come to our business to Desert Toyota. Thank you Precision for recommending that we go there. I went to Desert Toyota hoping to get a new car, but found the payments too high. Khalid, my sales person, was very patient as we went through the whole process, showing me the car all the features. After all that, he still was nice enough to help me find a 07 corolla that did fit my budget and it had a 100,000 mile warranty to boot! The other places I went just blew me off when I told them my budget for a car payment. Everybody was helpful and friendly. In fact my sister is going to Desert to see about a car next week. More

Ali Hussain is the general manager of Desert Toyota. My experiences with Desert Toyota has been an unbelievable nightmare. I bought a car from Desert Toyota. I put $1000.00 down and the sale was financed thru a bank. I gave Desert Toyota a bad rating when I filled out the survey. I was trutrhful and to the point. I also complained to Toyota Corporation directly about the problem. Desert Toyota called me about the problem and asked me to surrender the vehicle. I said no. A few days later, Ali Hussain called me and told me to surrender the vehicle or they were going to repossess the vehicle that night. I told him I have a bank loan and have been making payments. He said he did not care. He said "Bring the vehicle in or we were going to repossess it". I told him not to call me again and that I was going to see my lawyer about the matter. He called back and wanted to know what I was going to do. I told him I was going to the court and get a court order for harrassment and I also told him not to call again. I don't even want to drive by this place let alone visit it! More

Having done business with this dealership for years, it was very disappointing to become their victim. My in warranty vehicle was taken to them because of very poor running. After several unsuccessful attempts to repair it, they removed the fuel tank without my authorization and claimed to have found sugar. I was told that the all of the fuel system components would need to be replaced. I did not agree because the "sugar in the gas" gag has been proven to be an urban legend as sugar will not dissolve in gasoline. They insisted that this was necessary and that the manufacturer agreed. Upon completion of the attempted repair, the running condition had not improved. As it turns out, the problem was in the catalytic converter, caused by of a series of vacuum leaks. What should have been a warrantable issue was now being billed to me. I had the fuel injectors that were replaced tested by an independent facility. All were found to be in perfect working order. The service manager, Brian Bradley, was unconcerned with the report I provided him. The general manager, Ali Hussain, gave me his word that he would investigate the matter and contact me. He did not, even following written correspondence. I did finally get him on the phone and he exploded in a tantrum of false accusations and empy threats before hanging up on me. Desert Toyota can't be trusted and I regret having previously reccommending them to others. The handshake and word of Ali Hussain are meaningless and should be treated as such. More

My deal was reversed at the last minute because they were concerned I was going to give them a bad rating in the factory scorecard. Unfortunately some of the line salepersons were caught in the middle, and couldn't get my business, even when the deal offered was fair and competitive. The financial manager and salepersons retained their quality to the end, unfortunately their managers didn't. My 3 score in friendliness is for the nice salesperson. And the 3 in pricing is for the competitive offer I was given. The rest are for the overall nasty experience. What can I say? Thank God for a free market, I will just bring my business to the next dealer. After reading all reviews here I must say that the "awards" they display at the site are very misleading. My advise: bring your business to Tempe, just 1.5hrs away. More

My husband and I first encountered Desert Toyota about three years ago when we were wanting to sell my Toyota Tercel and trade up. This past week I had something go wrong with my new Toyota -- which, by the way, I got at Scott Toyota in Scottsdale, not at Desert Toyota -- and needed some warranty work done on it. I would have preferred to go to Precision Toyota, but it is so far away (clear on the other side of town for me, about a 45-minute drive one way) that I decided to bite the bullet and go to Desert. Bite the bullet indeed. They took down all my warranty info and made an appointment. It was for four days later. I brought it in at the appointed date and time and ended up waiting all afternoon for it because they never called a shuttle ride and the shuttle driver was sitting in the lobby most of the afternoon just watching baseball on the overhead TV and shooting the xxxx with the staff. Then they told me as they were about to close service for the day (four hours after I arrived) that they would have to order the part. I was incredulous. Why hadn't they ordered the part four days earlier when they first inspected my car and spoke to me about what was wrong? To be continued... More

Well, turns out my husband and I were the people who needed decent transportation and got screwed out of it... I regret buying my car from Desert Toyota!! After a 5 hr. process of "making us happy" we needed decent transportation and got screwed out of it... I regret buying my car from Desert Toyota!! After a 5 hr. process of "making us happy" we were finally allowed to leave. Couldn't pick up our car for 6 days, was told a huge amount of things were done to it and was never to this day given proof yet. Drive home and come to find out the put no coolant in it and when we called then we r passed around to every sales person there and never get an answer.<br> We are now working on getting the car fixed but let it be known to anyone.. This is xxxx, I never thought I would going through this with a car. Jag is being informed, Better Business, and a couple other people.. I will take this dealership down!!!! More
