Though I had made my decision to buy a new Subaru Outback, and I had selected the equipment I wanted, it was just a matter of finding a dealership who could get just the one I wanted at a good price. Outback, and I had selected the equipment I wanted, it was just a matter of finding a dealership who could get just the one I wanted at a good price. On dealer tried to push on me what he had on the lot. Another quoted me a good price, but it wasn't what I had asked for. Another dealer refused to quote a price, but said he would match any other price. Two failed to return my calls in a timely manner. When I called Dick Hannah Subaru in Vancouver, Sam Gibbs, responded quickly, found the car I wanted and gave me a reasonable price. Though Vancouver was the most distant dealership from me, the professional manner in which Mr. Gibbs and the staff at Dick Hannah Subaru handled the transaction was the key to my decision to buy there. All went smoothly and though there was one hiccup in the transaction, they were right on it and took care of both me and my new car. In addition, my Subaru has thus far, exceeded my expectations. I had a very good experience with employee Mike, at the subaru dealership. He was very friendly, and helpful. He showed me and my parents the car we had found in the newspaper that we wanted to look at, ex subaru dealership. He was very friendly, and helpful. Went to buy a new Outback. Sam was very helpful in choosing among the various options. Took multiple test drives. Ultimately bought the one on display at Costco for a very good price. As a background, I have purchased four new vehicles and two used in my lifetime. I spent a significant amount of time researching the vehicle that I wanted to get to accommodate an addition to our family. two used in my lifetime. I spent a significant amount of time researching the vehicle that I wanted to get to accommodate an addition to our family. I needed more room and third row seating. I also spent an equal amount of time researching the value of my trade in. (2008 Subaru Legacy). I live about 40 miles from the deanship in Oregon. Using there internet service, I submitted a inquiry about a vehicle and promptly got a response. The internet salesperson was ready to sell me the vehicle for 1K, more than it was listed for on the dealers website. I referred him to the website and the sale amount was corrected. The dealers website also has a "Value your Trade" option. My trade in came in between 12K and 14K for good and excellent condition respectively. My car is currently on their website for 17K. I say this because when I first showed up knowing that my trade in, according to their program and verified by others was worth at LEAST 12K, I was offered 8,500 for the trade in. Now frustrated, I told the salesman the number is at least 12K or I can just go and keep looking. The same ol' sales technique of three levels to the finance manager and he finally comes out with a number of $10,500. I tell him the number is 12K or I will keep looking. He leaves and comes back with 11,500, his best offer. I again tell him 12K, he wants to meet in the middle at 11,750K. Given that I have two infants and no time to go through this hassle any longer, I agree to the number for my trade in. As the final sale starts to come together another fee for Sales Tax on an extended service contract was added, probably because it had to be, but it wasn't discussed during the transaction. That was another couple hundred added on. The kicker here is this. I drove my car in and it had over 3/4 of a tank of gas. When I asked if gas would be put in the vehicle I purchased (it was empty). The sales manager stated "I am way ahead of you, I added 5 gallons". Its a 22 gallon tank. My paperwork indicates that my title fees were another 190 dollars because I am an Oregon resident buying a car from Washington. You need new plates, tags and a title. This all sounded right at the time. When I took my car into the Oregon DMV for a VIN inspection, the car has Oregon plates, has never been titled in Washington, has valid tags and simply needs a title transfer form. I called to discuss with them five days ago (and recalled twice), and no one has called me back. I would have let this review go as average because its what I somewhat expected. However the initial trade in value $3,500 lower than it was worth and 50% of what they currently have it listed for on there website, in addition to the little things like the titling of the car and the gas that barely got me home. I decided to leave a response. I will say that I was very pleased that "Freddy" followed me home from the dealership to have my wife sign her portion of the paperwork. That was a step in the right direction. I simply wish that level of service would have transcended the entire transaction. More
I phoned ahead for a vehicle seen on Craigslist. Wyn answered the phone, called back promptly with answers to my questions and ultimately was my salesperson. He was polite and knowledgable...not pushy. answered the phone, called back promptly with answers to my questions and ultimately was my salesperson. He was polite and knowledgable...not pushy.
