Mike Alemanni was really great when we bought our malibu. Very helpful all thru the process and still keeping in touch to make sure everything is still going great with our car. Purchased a used 2020 Malibu 11 months ago. The next morning after owning the car, it would not unlock the doors or start with the fob. Called the salesperson (no longer there) who referred me The next morning after owning the car, it would not unlock the doors or start with the fob. Called the salesperson (no longer there) who referred me to the service manager. He said to use the emergency key and explained how to unlock the door. Had to call a locksmith because the emergency key in the ONE fob I received was not cut (not the original fob I later found out). After the locksmith unlocked the car, it still wouldn't start. Was able to open the hood and found the negative battery cable was loose at the battery. After tightening the clamp (and still trying to convince myself I was happy with my purchase) the car would constantly tell me "no remote detected". I spent hours trying to unlock the door or start the car, "no remote detected" everywhere I went. Spent hours and days in the service center. Mechanics found "nothing wrong". I've spent over $800 in 11 months in locksmith fees, locked out in my driveway, restaurant parking lots, Walmart, etc. Yesterday a locksmith reprogrammed the fob and the remote worked as it should. He sold me and programmed me a second remote which also work as it should. Not sure why the dealer mechanics did not check this. Info on Google says it's a common problem with other Chevy/Malibu owners and other vehicles (probably not only GM products) and no one knows how to fix it? xxx? This is the 2nd slightly used Malibu I've purchased and was given only one FOB. Won't happen again without 2 FOBs that function. Was supposed to have a free oil change I still haven't received, which was scheduled at one of my days spent sitting in the show room. Scary thought. I will do it and have done it myself. There were new tires on the car when I purchased it. Cheapest tires I've ever seen in recent years (4 for $550 installed). Salesman showed me the invoice. (Install new cheap tires to sell the car it seems.) At the time I didn't care and still don't. Never suspected a problem (because of the inspection check list by dealer the salesperson showed me). Drove the car 5k miles and started noticing a vibration at highway speeds. Front end was out of alignment and ruined (cupped) the front tires. I'm sure the old tires showed wear. Had the front end aligned and purchased new tires. Not sure what to do different as a buyer other than slow the process of being run thru the deal like in a cattle shoot. Seems there was more focus on me buying the overpriced warranty (which I refused 10 times) than checking over the car before it was put on the lot to sell. I will likely purchase from Don Don Hattan Hattan again. I truly believe the owner is high class, top notch and is continuing to run the quality business her father started. The sales manager will get to know me first of all and will be talking to me about everything instead of sitting behind the counter crunching numbers and pushing the warranty through the finance person (who is a super guy even though I had outside financing).
