I found Downtown Toyota of Oakland (DTO) to have extremely poor customer service, misleading trade-in policy and horrible high pressure tactics. Sale portion of deal was OK, but that was completely negated by trade-in. Traded a new Toyota Prius; got an acceptable Edmund's trade value from DTO that was linked to DTO's website. I spoke via phone to a DTO salesperson and they agreed with the Edmund's valuation of my vehicle. I made an appointment for the next day, and hoped to be in and out with the sale of the new vehicle and trade in. But, the salesperson I had spoken with was unexpectedly off that day. I stupidly assumed that the first salesperson told the person I dealt with about the Edmund's valuation of my vehicle they agreed to. No. And I had the print out of the valuation from their website with me. Still no. So...their initial offer that day was $7277 lower than we'd negotiated the day before! I left immediately...but as I was out the door, that's when the high pressure began...and I stupidly fell for it. This treatment is not something I was prepared for...and will never, ever fall for again!! 4 hours of torture wore me out mentally and physically; no water or food available...dizzy/dehydrated. I should have and could have left; the sale pricing on the vehicle I wanted to purchase continued one more day. By closing at 9pm, they were up to $1277 lower than the offer the previous day. I was dizzy, worn out; couldn't think clearly and just wanted to leave. I should have. Because it was so late, I had to return again (another 90 minute drive in traffic over the Bay Bridge) to get the car's power cord, get it detailed, and trained in it's "knobology" as I had questions about the operation of the vehicle. I sat waiting over an hour after the car was detailed for training while all salespeople helped others. I found later that I also should have been given a $900 CA Clean Air Rebate for Plug In Hybrid at the sale; when I asked, DTO was clueless about that. I contacted CA Air Resources Board, they then contacted DTO and I later got the rebate...but another drive to the dealership. Finally, I was told that I had to wait 4 months before paying off the 5.99% loan that was a requirement (which I wasn't told about until I signing sales docs) of a $5k manufacturer's rebate in order to keep it. However, Toyota Financial Services told me that was not true, there is no penalty for early pay off. The price for the vehicle I purchased was no-haggle and fine with me. And, if DTO had simply given me the value for my trade in that we had been agreed upon (which ended up being only $1277 more than they finally gave me), along with the $900 CA Clean Air Rebate, this would have been a 5 star review. However, I will not return to DTO, and I would advise others to stay away, unless prepared for their poor customer service, high pressure tactics and misleading trade in policy. And bring your own food and water! More
$ 212.00 oil change?? xxx? Charged me for 3 additives make my gas better. What’s that about? Also, used cheap regular oil instead of recommended synthetic which I have always used. These guys should not be Toyota dealers. They give the brand a bad name. I am livid to say the least. DONT GO HERE, THEY SUCK! More
