Had a great salesperson! But got the worse approved prices Wanted to buy a new 2016 Civic EX. Did all of my research, such as published invoice prices, features and the like. Looked at rebates, if applicable Wanted to buy a new 2016 Civic EX. Did all of my research, such as published invoice prices, features and the like. Looked at rebates, if applicable. Visited the three dealers in the metro Atlanta area physically, then switched all of them, plus 4 others to internet and texting contact only. I define a good salesman as being quickly responsive to his customer in the communication phase of the process. I had that in Mr. Leggett, the representative here. SO I am NOT complaining about him. He responded even after business hours to all of my questions and seemed real genuine. But let's face it, even if the salesman is great. It is dealer management that ultimately decides what price you will be sold a car. They also decide how your salesperson 'should' be offer that price, until pushed hard enough by the customer. My issue is that we had to keep going back and forth. I'd offer one reasonable price as dealer driveout total. I'd get back a response at a much higher price (by thousands) before they even added, "Taxes, Doc Fees (a no value extra profit fee that ALL dealers try to charge), Electronic Tag Fee, and I believe Lemon Law Fee". In other words there was an apple to oranges type comparison. It is a standard tactic, nothing extra evil on this dealer's part, that most dealers use to make the initial number sound better. Finally after much pushing and when I indicated I was about to make a decision, I finally got this 'driveout' price from them, of $24,723.16-EX Civic Honda Sensing. A vehicle with Honda Sensing is about $1,000 retail above one without. So using that logic formula, its driveout would be about $23,723.16 for the Honda Civic EX that I ultimately purchased. I gave up on the Honda Sensing feature, after conversing with a dealer in CANADA, who straight up told me, the present production shows HONDA SENSING only on White, Black and Grey Civic vehicles. Which matched the inventory that I found researching all of the dealers, but no GA. dealer would just tell me that. I wanted the Burgundy Night. At the end of an all night internet search, I looked at the Georgia borders and found Economy Honda in Chattanooga. They have their prices right on the internet. I made first contact and completed the deal (about $300 below their internet price) just using texting. Driveout price on my Honda Civic EX, was less than $21,700 including all fees, including GA AdValorem tax. That is more than $2000 less than the extrapolated drive-out price from Ed Voyles. Don't want to drive the four hour round trip to Chattanooga from Atlanta, then the best price and simplest negotiations came with Honda Mall of Georgia, directly with Sales Manager, Mr. Sullivan. He never quoted me anything, but 'driveout', which I appreciated. His price was about $22,000. Bottomline: - I really liked the salesman and had there been a price within $500 of my final Economy Honda price, I had already decided to buy from him. - However, I don't like the dealer because of the constant back and forth pricing, apples to orange comparisons and being above three other dealers in the metro area and way above the dealer in Chattanooga. More
