Disrespected We bought a truck and about 2 weeks later we dropped it off so they could work on some extras we paid for when we bought it. I went to pick up the tru We bought a truck and about 2 weeks later we dropped it off so they could work on some extras we paid for when we bought it. I went to pick up the truck because I was informed it was ready. I get there the person who’s there to greet you doesn’t even say hi. We get in the truck and noticed there were things wrong so I turn the vehicle around. I never left the parking lot, actually I never got farther than 10 feet from the service door. All of a sudden they can’t help me because everybody is gone for the day. I was like I just stepped out. I was here 3 minutes ago and there is something wrong with the truck. He’s like you can bring it back tomorrow. I was like no I can’t it took me an hour to get here only to find out the truck is not ready and now you want me to drive back tomorrow. He comes back ok you can leave the truck but we can’t give you the loner back because the ticket was already closed. I’m like I need to get home, can I talk to your manager. Another employee comes back and they are going to see if they can get a loner. I have to explain myself again to somebody else. Then another employee comes back to let me know he can just open the same ticket. After my long drive to the dealer straight out of work and haven’t even had dinner I had to explain myself to several employees to get some help. Then when I think everything is good and I’m going to be on my way home. This lady steps out and was SUPER RUDE yelling at me in front of the employees because it turns out I was the rude one. Excuse me maybe next time double check that the job is done right before you call your customers to tell them that they can pick up the vehicle and do not give them a hard time after they are still willing to work with you. Anybody that is trained in customer service should know about service recovery. It was your mistake so please don’t be rude and disrespectful to me. I had every right to be upset as a customer who drove one hour to pick up my vehicle and had to drive another hour back home empty handed. If she was a good manager or lead person whatever she is there because she didn’t even introduce herself before she started going off at me. She should have said hi my name is .... I’m sorry about the situation please come into my office so we can talk, again service recovery and talked to me in private instead of trying to show off her power in front of other workers. I will never buy another vehicle from here after this experience. I got the message loud and clear that you don’t want my business and you definitely don’t care about your customers. I will let friends and family know not to buy here and take their business somewhere else. More

Your sales team of Tom Morri It's very encouraging to work with a car dealership like Elgin Toyota whose employees care so much about their customers. Your sales team of Tom Morris was beyond just customer care. He showed a great deal of care and respect for my 1st service on a 2019 new Camry I had purchased there last January 2019. the hours Because of Tom’s quick response and overall personable approach, I was able relax knowing my car was being overseen by someone on the side of a customer. Along with the great experience and efficiency in completing service, Tom shared a text with me to make sure I had all my questions answered during service, and he has followed up to ensure satisfaction. TOM IS MY GO-TO GUY now at this dealership. I've purchased many vehicles throughout the years, and my experience at Elgin Toyota is by far the best. Rest assured that when I decide to purchase again, I'll be heading your direction. Thanks again for the great communication, customer care and follow-up. It has been truly exceptional. Do NOT Purchase Extended Warranty & VS 2000 "DO NOT BUY" from Elgin Toyota 1600 W Lake Street, IL 60107 In the name of Extended Warranty and VS 2000 protection, the dealership is making extra "DO NOT BUY" from Elgin Toyota 1600 W Lake Street, IL 60107 In the name of Extended Warranty and VS 2000 protection, the dealership is making extra 2 to 3 grand from customers 1) I have a " 5 year extended maintenance plan" and when i took my car for service they did not have any information about my warranty? I had to provide them all the details of Warranty. 2 ) they said the regular maintenance is NOT COVERED under extended maintenance, I had to pay out of pocket. 3) I have VS2000 ( Car exterior and interior protection warranty), i have 2 minor spots on my car front fender. they said they will not send the car to VS2000. Elgin Toyota told me to call them and provided me with a wrong number which is from Houston. So I got the correct number from there and called them about my issue, the Customer care told me the guy in-charge is giving training and will not be able to call now but will get back to me as soon as he done, its about 4 days now. I did not receive any call regarding my complaint. So my humble request to new buyers, please check all the reviews before you make the decision of purchasing a car at this location. More

Don't trust their brake work! My Prius rear brake rotor put on by them were cut in March 2018, right after I drove back home from their store, I noticed the rotors had groove My Prius rear brake rotor put on by them were cut in March 2018, right after I drove back home from their store, I noticed the rotors had grooves on it. I called them many times and complained about it. Today (May 21, 2018) I stopped by and wanted to show my concern to their service department director Anthony Thiel. First I was told that he is at another dealership so I cannot talk to him. But later the assistant manager went inside and brought him over. Mr. Thiel was very arrogant and rude. I told him I drove all the way to their store to show him my concern, but at one point he said "I did not tell you to come!". When questioned him about the grooves on rear rotor, I compared with my front brake rotors which were original and groove-free, he said my front rotors were made in Japan and my rear rotor they put on were made somewhere else, so they are not comparable. He offered me to cut the rear rotors again, but told me grooves will come back. So I turned down his offer. They rear brake rotors and pads were replaced by Elgin Toyota at the end of 2016, and the rotor became so rough in January of 2018, and the technician said the caliber froze due to lack of grease put on the caliber from the work done in 2016. That is why I asked to re-cut the surface of the rear brake in March 2018. When looking at the whole thing, the poor brake service are multiple-folds: (1) The work done at end of 2016 did not have caliber greased properly. (2) The rotor they put on do not meet the standard of the factory rotor. That is why so many grooves on their rotors. I thought Toyota dealers would use all the quality parts, but apparently it is not the case with Elgin Toyota. My original rear brake lasted almost 80,000 miles, but after Elgin Toyota replaced my rear brake, it lasted a little bit more than 10,000 miles and then I had to resurface the rotors. It is very disappointing. Updated on 5/12/2019: I would rate them zero star if allowed. Here is the update to the story: At the end of Jan of 2019, my rear brake started to make scratching noise, so I drove to Elgin Toyota and hope that they could address the issue. Over there they told me that the calipers were stuck and the brake pads were wearing down unevenly. They told me I needed to have the calipers replaced. I rejected their proposal. I started to watch Youtube videos and learned how to repair car brakes. At the end of April 2019 I took apart the right-side rear brake and saw the outer pad wearing down tapered. I also took apart the caliper, and did not see any problem with the caliper at all, the cylinder was shining like new with perfect condition, no sign of caliper cylinder being stuck. The main problem was with the lower pin, it had a lot of rust and was stuck. Today (5/12/19), I took apart the left-side rear brake and saw the tapered wearing on the outer pad as well but with even worse condition, it went all the way to the metal on one side. The cause of such wearing is because they dealer forgot to put in one of the spring that pushes the pads away from the rotor. Without the spring, the pads were left in contact with the rotor all the time, wearing done very fast and unevenly. This left-side rear brake also had a rusted lower ping. The pins were replaced new when they replaced my rear brakes back in Aug of 2016 according to their receipt. I don't expect new pins to get rusted so quickly since the original ones lasted 6 years with almost 80k miles. I really want to share my experience with you so you know what to expect from Elgin Toyota when you get service from them. More
Exceptional service My wife and I have shopped and bought several cars from Elgin Toyota since 1997, though I am not writing on the sales people, but on the maintenance s My wife and I have shopped and bought several cars from Elgin Toyota since 1997, though I am not writing on the sales people, but on the maintenance staff. They all give great customer service, but Rudy Rios, an Assistant Service Manager is exceptional. We reach out for him whenever our cars are due for maintenance, scheduled or not. One tribute is the concern he gives when explaining when a problem is found by service technicians. In a recent visit he called Toyota to determine if repairs needed to our Avalon would be covered under warranty. (A loaner was provided for our use.) An answer would not be given till the next day. It was his day off but he came to work just to ensure he had an answer for us. Because of his initiative he was able to save us a great amount of money. He did not have to do what he did as he could have passed it on to another service manager; but due to the type of person he is, he didn't. We look forward to future service with Rudy Rios in taking care of our service needs. James & Laura Lopez More
