Big problems The problems started only 4 months after buying our new Sentra. The brakes squealed horribly backing up, and when we took it in, Faulkner claimed not The problems started only 4 months after buying our new Sentra. The brakes squealed horribly backing up, and when we took it in, Faulkner claimed not to hear it, and then later when they did hear it, they told us that's just how Nissan's are. Really. Well, when we took it to our previous mechanic, he just fixed it: No brake noise afterward. But the really bad stuff started at 25,000 miles, when the transmission just died on the road. It was under warranty so Faulkner put in a "new" transmission. We thought we were good to go, but here we are at only 75,000 miles (only 50,000 on the 2nd transmission), and the transmission is dying again! It barely drives with all the bucking, grinding, and stalling out--we're afraid to take it on the road. We had expressed concerns to them months ago when it started grinding and straining while coasting downhill -- they told us that's just how CVT transmissions are, and they did nothing. Now here we are, with a car only 5 years old and a 2nd failed transmission. We complained to Nissan corporate and took it back to Faulkner, because even though it's out of warranty, you'd think they'd find it unacceptable to have such a young car with low mileage die yet again, especially after they knew our concerns about the transmission. But no -- In fact, Faulkner told us they can't replicate the problem (a major honesty question there), and they seem more concerned with the fact that no sensors came on than the fact that it slips out of gear going down the block. They said they want us to pay the hundreds of dollars out of our pockets to do a "tear down" dismantling of the transmission to see if anything is wrong with it, and based on that, they "might" assist us in the cost of repair. The service manager told us we should just take the risk, because 'it's like the lottery.' At this point, the potential/probably cost of repair is worth more than the car (which is really sad for a 2013). It's appalling how they have blown off our concerns and how they are not standing by their work. And to top it all off -- when we went to pick it up from them, they lost our key. For days. More
