I came in with an appointment for a $39. 95 oil change and the replacement of a simple bracket for my rear license plate. The quote I received was for over $1250. It included a non-discounted oil change price of over $130, the simple license plate light bracket was over $350. In addition, there was an additional $800+ in recommended repairs that I had already had done over the last year.
