Bought My Second Vehicle at This Dealer I bought my first vehicle from this dealer in 2009 March—a 2009 Toyota Yaris—after being referred to Ms. Lydia Farias from a family friend who worked I bought my first vehicle from this dealer in 2009 March—a 2009 Toyota Yaris—after being referred to Ms. Lydia Farias from a family friend who worked at a different Toyota dealership. That went well and I walked out with the new Yaris that night. The Yaris served me well despite being put through stress that I'd imagine no Yaris would be expected to be put through in the form of a commercial vehicle being flexibly driven at high speeds through dense city traffic and long rides every day by a relatively inexperienced driver previously used to low-traffic country roads. Fast forward six years, and I was in the market for a replacement vehicle and, this May, I bought another new vehicle at Fred Haas: a 2014 Toyota Prius v with the top-tier, Five trim. We called up Lydia before driving to the dealership using her old business card, which I had kept, and she said to come on in. She was the same nice person as before with the same familiar face as six years ago except for her hair color. I came in expecting to look at the top-tier of 2015 models, but, within moments, she walked us over to a car on the salesfloor which had, basically, everything I was looking for in a new commercial vehicle: * light paint color: combats the Texas heat * keyless locking/unlocking: a big boon when you're constantly getting in and out * leather-like seats: I didn't care much for cloth in the Yaris, which is hard to maintain * large wheels: these make it less likely your front-end will slam the road on steep roadways/driveways or roads with potholes * on-board navigation: this gives me a back-up GPS in case my phone fails me * other features I'm probably forgetting * features that weren't standard back in 2009, but which I believe are now such as cruise control, day-running headlamps for improved visibility, et cetera Since the 2015 and 2014 models are so similar, I took her up on her offer to, essentially, save some money and time. Plus she mentioned that the car was on sale. I mentioned some manufacturer deals, such as price discounts and zero APR, and she was able to get me those too despite some difficulty since my then-current credit rating didn't quite match a recent credit report—for still-unknown reasons. I was a bit put-out about the APR issues upon first hearing about them, but she persevered and in the end walked me through my options and got me the kind of deal I was looking for. Lydia and I went through a test drive which was smooth despite the significantly different driving behavior of the Prius v. The whole purchase process went fairly quickly despite my lack of preparedness in filling out the paperwork and the finance staffer—an Asian guy with a really short name and a really long name and whom I don't see listed on Dealer Rater's employee list—was able to answer all of my questions satisfactorily after I badgered him for detail after detail. (He deserves high marks too.) The longest part was waiting for the installation of a security device, which I wanted installed then and there so I wouldn't need to worry about it. They got that done while I was having some beef brisket down the street at Rudy's. Lastly, they gave me detailed tour of the car's functionality even after I suggested it wasn't needed. I'm actually glad they insisted (without seeming like it) because the vehicle was a lot more complicated than I thought. Some of the features were basically identical to the Yaris—such as cruise control—so that made things easier. Then I drove off the lot a happy camper. I've been driving the vehicle for roughly a month and it's been a good experience. I'd purchase from this dealer again as they're easy to deal with. They also have one of the nicer maintenance areas compared to other Toyota dealers in the area. (I've been to three Houston Toyota dealers' maintenance areas.) Another reason why I went to this dealer was that they also seemed to have the biggest selection of cars for a given model after comparing all of the Houston dealers, so there's a plus too for those looking for specific colors or trims. And that's that. More
