Joe Gambino, Sr has had a passion for cars since he was a young boy. Growing up in Brooklyn, New York he was afforded many opportunities, but none compared to his dreams of one day owning his own car dealership.
In 1956 Mr. Gambino and his wife moved to Phoenix, AZ and purchased Bobby Unser Chevrolet in 1983. The store was renamed Joe Gambino Chevrolet shortly thereafter. For years, Mr. Gambino lived the life he had always dreamed of and enjoyed the privilege of being the furthest Chevrolet dealer west in the country. People flocked from miles around to visit Joe Gambino Chevrolet because of their honest, up-front business model: We're not completely satisfied until you're completely satisfied.At Joe Gambino's Gateway Chevrolet, we believe a trusting relationship with our customers is the best way to run a business. We don't just want one-time customers; we want you to purchase vehicles from us for generations to come. We want you to become a part of the Gateway Chevrolet family, and believe, just as Joe Gambino, Sr did, that a family run business is the best type of business.
A lot of things have changed over the years, but two things remain the same. A family owned business with over 30 years of experience in the Phoenix, Scottsdale, Glendale and greater Arizona area, and our philosophy: we're not completely satisfied until you're completely satisfied.
In 1997, Joe Gambino Chevrolet became Gateway Chevrolet and in January 2002, they moved from their old location on East Van Buren to a brand-new state of the art facility in the Avondale Automall located at 9901 W. Papago Freeway. The new location provided expanded service bays, comfortable customer areas and even more room for inventory; but most importantly, an ease of business that can only be translated into happy customers.Joe Gambino, Sr has a son Joseph (or Joe Jr.) Joe Jr's affinity for rare automobiles and to be just like his dad led him into the business at a young age. When Joe Jr was 23, he became a sales person at Gateway Chevrolet. His determination for success and perfection led him up through the ranks until 2010 when he became the General Manager of Gateway Chevrolet. Committed to selling cars at a great price and maintaining a positive relationship with the community, Joe Gambino, Jr. and Joe Gambino's Gateway Chevrolet have become a staple in the Phoenix and Greater Arizona area.

Dishonest and Poor customer service When one buys a used car it is normal to have your mechanic look at it. I was/am interested in a rav 4 that they have. They have had it now for a month and when they first got it they were off my price by $900 they refused to budge on the price, Ok that is fine and I can understand that. I then got a truecar offer for the price that I was looking for from them great! I went to the dealership to do a quick test drive and to arrange for my mechanic to look at the Rav4. It was agreed upon that the next day I would take a half day off of work and one of the dealership sales people would go with me to take it to my mechanic great that works well for me and all is going well. Then at 10:00 at night I get this email. " Dear Patrick, Just FYI... We will not be able to take the vehicle to your mechanic. However my manager is willing to put it in writing for you, upon your mechanic's inspection you will have 3 days to bring it back... let me know if that will work for you... respectfully Thanks! Customer Relations Manager Gateway Chevrolet (623) 932-4389" even if they gave it to me in writing that I could return it there would still be the sunk costs that I would not get back that would amount to over $1000 and I do not trust them to keep there word with something big as they can not keep it with something small. I know in the response to this they are going to say they do a 171 point inspection. Well Sorry your goal is to sell the car and make money not protect the buyer so you are not objective in that inspection. Do not purchase from them! Also there Doc fee is ridiculously high. Update: I got a call from Robert Revere who is the manager for the new car sales as a result of this review. He allowed the original arrangement of having my mechanic look at the car. It should not be a fight to have a used car looked at. It is the second most expensive purchase made by most people. My mechanic said it looked good. I was ready to purchase at the agreed upon true car price. They had there gateway value package that is an add on to a car. It includes window tint (that was not needed for the car and some cosmetic items I do not care about) They refused to remove these add on that I did not want. They also had a window etching (VTR) that I did not need and does nothing that I asked to be removed and they would not do that. As the Rav4 was a good price I was willing to compromise and leave the VTR for 229 of pure profit as you can get the same thing online for $20. The manager of used cars came out and told me that it was his intention to market cars in such a way that they could not sell the car at the advertised price and that he had to sell the add on package to make a profit. This is called bait and switch it is illegal. Omar the sales guy did his best and it was not his fault that his management is practicing deceitful practices. More
