I placed my order 7 months ago and got the first allocation in Arizona. I was prompted to pick Gateway as the dealer by General Motors. The invoice I received after walking through the specifications was $84,000. There was never any mention of a dealer markup - and I corresponded many times with the dealership. Imagine my surprise when I went to pick up the car, only to find an opportunistic Covid-19 markup of $20,000 (the plant has stopped producing cars due to the pandemic). The GM Robert Perez lied straight to my face and said he had told me about the dealer markup - when asked to produce proof, he produced a copy of an email on which he had handwritten +$20k - the ink did not even appear to be dry. When I requested to speak to the owner, I was denied and told "It is what it is, if you don't like it you can leave". Prior to any mention of a markup, he had mentioned that he could probably sell the car for $140k. How GM allows this kind of dishonesty to exist in their dealer network is a complete mystery. Taking advantage of a global pandemic for profit is deplorable. Fortunately I was able to source a replacement car from a more reputable dealer. More

I did not appreciate being told that my moon roof couldn't be checked because the mechanics needed to be paid too. Instead he could have explained the bumper to bumper was expired.
