Deceitful Price Quote I have been a loyal Honda customer for 12 years (since purchasing my 2006 CRV from the dealership)--getting everything from oil changes, seasonal chec I have been a loyal Honda customer for 12 years (since purchasing my 2006 CRV from the dealership)--getting everything from oil changes, seasonal check-ups, repairs and even an additional new vehicle (2013 Pilot). My husband and I have always been very happy with the high level of quality service and customer care. Our past experience led us to planning to replace my 2006 CRV with a new Honda next year when our Pilot is paid off. However, Chris has changed those plans and positive feelings towards Germaine Honda. I brought my 2006 CRV in for an oil change. Service advisor Chris Robinson #237 called to tell me a censor under my seat was broken. I asked specifically, “How much is the part?” Chris replied, “$1,400, but it will be unsafe to drive your car without replacing.” I was leery at first because of my November experience, but I had the exact amount this time and I didn’t want to be unsafe on the road. So we borrowed the money from my father to complete the job. When I picked up the car the following day I was shocked to see that service cost was $1735.99…way more than the $1,400 I was quoted. I asked Chris about the discrepancy and why he lied to me and he said, “I didn’t lie to you, you asked ‘How much does the part cost?’ the part cost $1,431.09 and $279.90 is for labor which brings the total to $1,735.99.” To which I replied, “Fine you didn’t ‘lie’ but you certainly were deceitful. Of course I meant the total cost, I would never just want to know just the cost of the part! What do you think I am going to do--install it myself?” With this Chris told me, “I’ll see what I can do (in terms of the cost).” He was able to take 10% off. However, I was still extremely upset. I could not protest more at the time because I had my 3-year-old daughter with me who was losing patience. I am not sure if he treated me this way because I am a woman or because he is unpleasant in general. More
