Started off great, ended Terrible Sadly, with Chris Van Vliet & Chris Mettile...we didn't have the best experience. We fell short on the appraisal for the car we were looking at and th Sadly, with Chris Van Vliet & Chris Mettile...we didn't have the best experience. We fell short on the appraisal for the car we were looking at and that was the deal breaker on the car we were going to buy. They appraised my trade it almost $4,500 less than two other dealerships had offered, and then went up by 1k which was a "gracious offer" despite being told what we would get elsewhere. The best part? They had mentioned wholesaling the car and that was the reason for the low offer. Though I understand business needs, do not give me a low offer because you don't plan on keeping the car on your lot, that is such a quick way to lose business. I couldn't seal the deal because of this. Their last ditch effort was the attempt to sell us a "beautiful" Sonata that was in decrepit shape and showed signs of heavy and hard driving (heavy wear on inside, all four rims with heavy scratching). We ended up going to Sarasota Ford and getting a loaded sedan, after they gave us a very fair offer for our trade for a better overall car that was priced lower. Although we enjoyed Mike's assistance very much, Chris V.V. was not on the same level. It became apparent when we arrived back from our test drive and were looking at the car and he had stated "I'm in no rush to sell you the car, I am not pushy...it won't change my life one bit." While we were at the signing table, he came back with the numbers and I hesitated to sign after looking at the evaluation. He forcefully asked "what can I do to sell you the car" and wrote a number down and asked for us to sign it. I understand he wants to sell the car, but there's no need to say you do not "push" cars and then force that. I am not a novice when it comes to car shopping and felt like I was being treated as some nonchalant, wishy-washy young adult buyer. I had told them both I had done my homework, had a draft check ready for a considerable amount, but simply could not think of giving that amount and credit to a service or sales team that did not deserve it. Had the offer been closer to my expectations and service showed just a slight bit of genuine care and not forcefully selling, I would have been more workable in the price. They attempted to put us in a corner and I absolutely would not allow that nor will I have it happen ever again. Overall Mike and Andrea were fantastic. Thank you for making the effort and showing genuine care. I'm sorry we could not sign a deal while you were away. On a side note, I would HIGHLY suggest giving your sales-force their own offices. It's pretty embarrassing that on two separate occasions the office we were in had been occupied by someone else when we returned and had to gather our belongings and move over, same happened to another couple as we apparently took over their office. We received a follow-up (automatic) e-mail from the GM Roy Smalls, in which I found his actual e-mail and send this inquiry to him over 1 week ago. Sadly, I have not received a response in regards to anything stated above. More

My salesman, Chris Van Vliet was friendly, professional, very knowledgeable, and I felt that he really had my best interest in mind. He made it easy. After my purchase was complete he followed up to make sure that I was 100% satisfied. I would highly recommend Gettel Hyundai to anyone looking to purchase a new vehicle. More
