I placed a deposit on a vehicle and made clear arrangements to pick it up on Tuesday. Because the dealership is 3 hours away, I booked a hotel and also arranged to sell my current car based on that commitment. Then on Saturday, I got a call from the sales manager telling me I suddenly had to pick up the car by Sunday because it was a “high-demand car.” Apparently a deposit and an agreement meant nothing. I explained that I had already made travel plans and coordinated the sale of my car based on the agreed Tuesday pickup. I was told they would not honor that. Then about an hour later, sales manager Jim called back and said he had spoken to leadership and gotten approval to hold the vehicle until Tuesday after all. I also received text confirmation that the car would be held until Tuesday. Then on Tuesday, as I was literally leaving to pick it up, they called and told me they had sold it. So to recap: they took a deposit, tried to change the terms at the last minute, reversed themselves, confirmed in writing that the car would be held, and then sold it anyway. If a dealership’s deposit means nothing and their written confirmation means nothing, then their word means nothing. I would strongly warn anyone considering buying from them not to trust promises, not to make travel plans, and not to assume they will honor even the most basic commitment. More

I am extremely disappointed with Gettel Toyota Lakewood regarding our attempted purchase of a 4Runner. As business owners, we understand sales can be complicated, but what we experienced went far beyond no regarding our attempted purchase of a 4Runner. Throughout this process, we worked closely with Mido and David Simmons, who were aware of our progress and financing status. We also sent regular updates directly to their General Manager, Kimo Helal, to ensure transparency. To be clear, Mido, our salesperson, was helpful and professional while we were at the dealership. Our issue is not with him. The breakdown occurred at the finance and management level, where decisions are ultimately made. We began negotiations at the beginning of last week and acted in good faith at every step. We resolved minor obstacles, provided updates to the dealership and management, sent multiple emails and chat messages requesting the sales contract, and were fully transparent throughout the process including direct emails to the General Manager. On Friday, we confirmed that our financing was approved and clearly communicated that we would pick up the vehicle on Saturday, December 24th at 10:30 a.m. and we got confirmations through text. Saturday morning we received a text from our salesperson stating the 4Runner had already been sold despite our readiness, our deposit offer, and repeated confirmations. This is not how professional business is conducted. The lack of communication, disregard for a prepared buyer, and last-minute sale of the vehicle demonstrate a serious failure of ethics and customer respect. We were ready to establish a long-term relationship with this dealership, but now we will never return. If you value professionalism, transparency, and respect, be aware that this dealership failed on all counts. More

However, our experience with Gonzalo Hurtado at Gettel Toyota of Lakewood was a breath of fresh air. Gonzalo introduced himself in a calm and respectful manner, guiding us to the vehicles we were interested in and helping us compare options without any pressure. Even when we were out of town, Gonzalo worked with us remotely to put together a great deal, making a large financial decision feel seamless and stress-free. He was personable, respectful, and someone I would highly recommend to anyone in search of a new vehicle. More

WARNING February 8,2025 my daughter and I purchased a car at Gettel Toyota dealership in Lakewood. We had seen a 2021 Ford Bronco Sport for sale online and with a lot of miles. The car has all the safety items were looking for knowing that this would be my daughters main car for school etc. But we were aware of the miles over 100,000. I did have some reservation about all the miles but the sales rep was kept reassuring us the car was inspected no major issues. On May 8th my daughter is on her way to school and the car will not go forward. Took to repair shop, diagnosis the transmission needs to be replaced. I reached out to sales manager Ryan Overstreet and gen manager Kemo Helal. No response from anyone. I know there will be wear and tear, which there is. But the lack of transparency or decency knowing this vehicle is for a mother and teenage daughter. When we went to look at the car we might have not asked the right questions. I received a coupon for Gettel’s oil change service and after the department associate accepted the coupon and completed the oil change, I was not able to redeem the coupon. I followed up with Diane, she assured me that I could get a refund of the difference upon returning and bringing the receipt and coupon that was rejected. I went to the dealership and spoke with Jack regarding this issue. He was very hostile towards me and refused my refund. I followed back up with Diane again regarding yet another unfortunate situation, however she did not return my call. It is not about the money at this point. I am disgusted with the bad business, and lack of personal responsibility this establishment has shown. As a professional in customer relations, I know the importance of maintaining a good relationship and image for the business you are working for. This does not seem to be a priority in the employees at Gettel Toyota of Lakewood. More
