I’ve generally had a positive impression of Hyundai Motor Company as a brand, but my most recent service experience at this location has completely changed my perspective. From the beginning, communicatio Company as a brand, but my most recent service experience at this location has completely changed my perspective. From the beginning, communication was poor. My service advisor was condescending and rarely provided updates—I had to initiate nearly every follow-up myself. My vehicle required a repair that involved disconnecting the battery, yet while I waited nearly a week for the part to arrive, the battery was not disconnected as expected. Again, I had to reach out just to confirm whether the part had even come in. When my daughter picked up the car, it would not start. The dealership jump-started it and still allowed her to leave. That same evening, the alarm system began malfunctioning, and by the next day, the car would not start at all—leaving her stranded at school. Before bringing my vehicle in, I had already verified with multiple mechanics that the battery was in good condition. After this incident, the battery had clearly been drained. When I contacted the dealership to address these concerns, I was met with a dismissive attitude. I was told their senior technician “would not have done that,” and my concerns were essentially brushed off. After providing additional details and attempting to follow up, I received no response. I ultimately took my car to a trusted local mechanic in Fort Wayne. Not only did they correctly diagnose the issue, but they also fixed it in under 10 minutes at no charge. This was especially concerning, as I had previously been told by this dealership that the repair would cost approximately $850- work that was not actually needed. (They were willing to "waive" labor costs as they clearly knew it would take 10 minutes). After I declined and left a review on Google, they happened to find another solution but again- an honest and trustworthy company has already taken care of it. Interestingly, after I left a negative review, they all of a sudden found another way to fix it which was much cheaper, yet the other honest and reliable shop had already done it- again, for free. Based on this experience, I cannot recommend this service department. While I’ve respected Hyundai in the past, the lack of accountability, poor communication, and questionable service practices at this location have led me to reconsider future purchases altogether. More
