I was planning on updating my current pickup which was a 2016 RAM 3500 Dually Crew Cab Long Box Set Up for a Slide in Camper. For options I had a 6.7 Liter Cummins HO Turbo Diesel, Aisin 6 Speed Automatic, 2016 RAM 3500 Dually Crew Cab Long Box Set Up for a Slide in Camper. For options I had a 6.7 Liter Cummins HO Turbo Diesel, Aisin 6 Speed Automatic, Protection Group, Cold Climate Group and 8.4 Uconnect with GPS Navigation. Camper Specific: Torque-Lift Super Hitch Magnum, Torque-Lift front and rear frame mounted camper tie down brackets, Firestone 5000 lb. capacity air bags, Bilstein shocks all around, Camper wiring in the bed and Front 2 inch receiver trailer hitch for mounting the spare tire carrier—otherwise you have to drop the camper to get at the spare. I bought the truck locally and have the ability to use an Affiliate Rewards number for a discount. For the new purchase it would be either a Ford or Ram and I would have to order one to my requirements. The Ram was a great pickup with a couple exceptions. The first is the tires that come with the Ram. I had separations on three of them and ended up replacing all the tires with Michilin LX2 tires. For seven mounted on a new Ram it would run me about $2100—these come standard on the Ford dually. The Ford was recently updated with a new interior and now had a ten speed and a High Output diesel option. My local dealer adds a $5000 market adjustment to the MSRP of the Ford and my Ram dealer was going to give me under book for my Ram with no credit for what I added for the slide in camper. I sent Granger a description of the Ram and a bunch of photos and had a price from them in a day. I did get credit for my slide in camper additions. I decided on the Ford so I sent a list for a price. I loaded my Jeep Wrangler on a trailer and pulled it with my Ram. They took a close look at the Ram and we negotiated a value. I sat down with Chip and we ordered the Ford and gave me expectations on the build cycle. I hooked the trailer up to my Jeep and drove home. Ordered in September and got the truck in February. Great experience with all involved. I have installed the Air Lift bags, TORK LIFT Hitch and camper mounts, camper wiring, and front receiver hitch for the spare and am ready for travel season. More
