Based on my recent experience at this dealership while purchasing a new car, the trust I built with this dealership over the years has completely been eroded. But for my vigilance and inquisitiveness, I w purchasing a new car, the trust I built with this dealership over the years has completely been eroded. But for my vigilance and inquisitiveness, I was almost conned out of Smart Shield application which I had already been charged dearly for. The drama started after I signed the finance paperwork. Part of the warranty I purchased was Smart Shield application. The following day, the salesman I was dealing with called me and said the new car was ready for pickup. I asked the salesman if the Smart Shield had been applied. He did not seem to have a clue as to whether this was done or not. He then told me via text that the Smart Shield would take five minutes!!! So I asked him how come he sent me a text stating that the car was ready when the Smart Shield had been applied. At this point I sensed that something was seriously wrong. When I finally arrived to pick up my car, I again asked the salesman whether Smart Shield had been applied. He answered "yes". I asked the salesman if he could show me any form of documentation to prove that the Smart Shield had indeed been applied. The salesman became visibility upset and said he was going to bring the technician who applied the Smart Shield. While still inside the dealership, I asked the technician directly if he had applied the Smart Shield and he answered, "yes". The technician then went on to describe the car he applied the Smart Shield on as having fabric upholstery. I requested him to walk with me to my new car which did not fit the description he gave: my car has leather upholstery. When I pointed out this discrepancy to the salesman, he stated that the technician applies Smart Shield on "hundreds of cars" which is why his description did not match my car!!! At this point I requested to speak to a sales manager. The sales manager organized to have the Smart Shield applied. Per the sales manager, he witnessed the application. I wonder just how many unsuspecting customers have been conned out of Smart Shield or other services for which there is no mechanism to verify that these were actually provided. Customers, be very afraid!!! More
