Deliberately misleading price on their website. Falsely claiming manufacturers rebate as their dealership discount. Does NOT specify the price only qualifies to certain buyers THROUGH the use of an asteris More

Mrs. Manasco, Our pricing will be honored when the customer qualifies for the manufacturing programs as listed under the ASTERISK and our advertisement meets the requirements under Nissan guidelines. You've even stated that in your complaint. The disclaimer accomplishes clarity when you read the information from a position of understanding versus a position of trying to get a benefit that you do not qualify for. We stand behind our pricing as we always have. Being that you contacted our dealership from 90 miles away and another state proves that we are pricing effectively; naturally with the profane language that you used while speaking to the Operations Manager.....this would have caused us to not do business with you on the 2020 Nissan Versa since we don't talk to our customer in that manner nor will we be spoken to in that manner.

Then why isn’t listed in the disclaimer section on your website. Also it says a lot to you that dropping one F bomb on a call is more offensive to you than deliberately misleading your consumers.

It’s clearly on the website... as we haven’t had any issues with anyone else. Have a great day.

Let’s go through the bountiful mistakes and misrepresentations that have played my Limited free time this weekend, but have angered me enough that I’m not dropping this. Shopping for cars is a terrible experience. Especially for women. Especially especially for single women. Let’s recap my experience with Gunter Nissan of Martinsville 1. I called and spoke with Erin, and the first question out of my Mouth was “ The price online for your 2020 Nissan Sentra SV is 17,400. Is that the price of the car or does this include the conditional manufactures offers you have to qualify for that are standard across all Nissan dealerships?” I was told SEVERAL* times that the price online was the price of the car. I already knew that the listed price of the car did not include taxes and fees because they did choose to include that information in the disclaimer section.** I asked her if she could get me some thing in writing detailing the price of the car and the taxes and fees. I was wary of a catch, as many dealerships will frequently offset the listed discounted price with additional fees. I told Erin I might be open to financing, but to go ahead and give me the cash price just to be safe, as I knew the manufacture was offering a rebate and I wanted to separate conditional offers. 2. To my surprise and delight, I was sent a bill of sale totaling $18596.43 Which was 100% reasonable and very close to their listed price! I was relieved I found a dealer who meant what they said in advertising. In the email, Erin sent me, she said this was $1000 more on the Bill of sale was because I wasn’t financing. I found the terms agreeable and But was still surprised all the dealership fees would add up to being so low. I asked her to confirm total price of the car and all fees and taxes were included in the subtotal at The bottom of the page. She confirmed again.*** 3. We began to start coordinating and what they need for me in order to get the car. I was looking at the bill of sale, and saw what I thought was an additional discount appeared to be in the down payment slot. I asked her about this, wanting to get an updated bill of sale if this was just in the wrong slot. That is when she stopped being direct answering my questions. A series of jumbled calls and disorganized flurries later, over the next two hours, I finally spoke to someone who told me that a down payment had been added in error. **** At this point I was sent an updated bill of sale, that was only a few hundred bucks less than the MSRP. This confused me because, as I had already been told the price online what is the price of the car. I went back online to double check the disclaimer section to see if I missed anything. There was nothing in the disclaimer section. I also double checked the offer expandable to see if it Any conditional offers have been automatically applied. However, there was nothing in this section to indicate these offers had already been added. No checkmarks, no asterisks. Nothing. at this point, I was concerned I was getting a different price because I wasn’t financing with them, which To their meager credit, they assuaged me of. It would be 7 different types of illegal to charge someone more for a good due to their payment method. At this point, with hours wasted. I was frustrated. I have never received an apology And I was still unsure where they got $17,400 from. There was no * next to the price. Their discount specified it was specific to Gunter Nissan, and then went on to list additional offers in an expandable section. It really nagged at me, so I called Morris back the next day, still confused about the vast discrepancy between the two prices. He then told me if I look between under the pictures, but before the expandable section Underneath the description, not even on its own line. Now I did not see this on my phone, so perhaps it’s easier to see Through the mobile interface, but from my desktop it was virtually impossible to see and there was no asterisk next to the price to show you to look for this.***** I read to him The law regarding false advertising in Virginia Regarding the sale of motor vehicles. I told him in order to be compliant with the law he would need to have an asterisk next to the price, and relevant information in the disclaimer section. “That’s your opinion.” I told him. “No. That’s the law.” This is done because A lot of times consumers don’t look at the description, especially in new cars, because they are very familiar with the type of car they want. Obviously, your method of burrying the price in a way to confuse the consumer worked, but what was gained? Your employees ended up wasting hours of their time over something that could’ve been so easily cleared up. And the truth is I called purposefully to verify and was still given wrong information. Wouldn’t it have just been better to be forthright? Isn’t it much better to just be honest and forthright? The truth is you have no idea which of the conditional offers I already qualified for because you didn’t ask the questions, because you already assumed the majority of Your customers don’t qualify. The truth is I qualified for two more manufacturer rebates, but obviously I’m not going to travel 90 miles for a discount I can get at any Nissan dealership. And you legitimately had your own discounts that you could’ve highlighted, that might be really appealing for people in your area. The only thing I wanted out of my call for Morris was for him to agree to add the conditional offer details to the disclaimer section of the website as is required by law. I didn’t want anybody else like me, Who had already been researching for hours, and knows exactly where to look on the website for these types of details to get sucked into this mess again. He wouldn’t do that. He was flippant and dismissive. So I met and returned his energy. Not proud of dropping an F bomb, but after my level of frustration I’m surprised I didn’t drop a few more. I’m going to see this through to the end, and just in case you guys need to know oh how to format asterisks properly, I left them here for you. * Most dealerships record calls for quality assurance, so a quick listen should verify that. ** They did not choose to include that the price online was conditional, and the majority of the discounts come from the manufacturer, which I would learn about hours later after being told repeatedly the exact opposite. *** Again, happy to forward this to your team if you do not have records of this conversation ****A down payment. On a cash offer bill of sale. I truly don’t know how that happens. ***** your own employee was confused about your pricing, so I don’t know where this I’ve never had an issue before comes from.
