Bait and switch pricing I have owned 10 Volkswagens in my lifetime and went to purchase a new VW Atlas at Gurnee VW. I found the car that I wanted on their website for a gre I have owned 10 Volkswagens in my lifetime and went to purchase a new VW Atlas at Gurnee VW. I found the car that I wanted on their website for a great price. Since I was 30 miles away I called and verified that it was in stock and not sold. At first everyone was great, Ozzie and the sales manager were talking and joking around with me. I felt like this was a good dealership. After taking the car for a test drive, I went into the sales managers office with my check book in hand to buy the car. The manager said that car was sold and he could get me another, but not at the internet price. I don’t know how they could sell the car that I came to see and was out on a test drive. I was the only one in the dealership and ready to buy. I was devastated! I felt that it was clearly a case of bate and switch. The next day the car was still on their website. This dealership gives all dealers a bad name. I sure hope the Illinois States Attorney and Volkswagen of America does something about their sales practices.
