13 hours ago NEW Where to even begin… The first time I went here i went in with my husband, i was treated very poorly by one of the salesman who refuse to acknowledge my presence and only talk to my husba went here i went in with my husband, i was treated very poorly by one of the salesman who refuse to acknowledge my presence and only talk to my husband even though my husband clearly stated that I would be the one purchasing the vehicle. He even said to me: “Let’s wait for him“ when my husband stepped out to take a phone call. When it was time to talk about numbers, we requested an out the door price with a breakdown of all the charges, they only showed it to us per our insistent request and when we ask if we could take it home to run our own numbers we were told is against policy. (Red flag) I was very confused. Anyway we went home, talked about it and decided that I really like Mazda and with this dealership being so close to home it was the “best option” (yeah right). So i gave them a second chance, but this time I asked for a saleswoman because maybe I would be more comfortable. Second time here, the saleswoman was extremely pushy with me taking a leased vehicle, even though I told her that i was there specifically for the vehicle that is advertised on their site .(Red Flag#2) Come to find out that particular vehicle is their classic bait & switch , because it was very damaged (that is not on their site in fact is says “clean carfax” ) . When I asked for my second option , she was very dismissive and again forcibly showed me the OTD price , with a breakdown. We looked at it and I noticed they are charging $2500 for a Mazda certification,(Red Flag #3) since we didn’t know any better we assumed that is normal charge . I again asked if we could take this home , she said “you can’t ,but i will email this to you” (Red Flag #4 ) we were again confused because wasn’t this against their policy? So we left and off course she never emailed me the information . When I emailed her a day later asking for it, yet again , she was very dismissive and told me that the car was sold and sent me only the info for the leased car(Red Flag #4). I told her I was not interested in leasing and to let me know if she had a car within my budget in their lot, which she simply replied “ok” . So I kept looking on my own, and was able to locate the car i wanted from another Mazda dealership, where they were able to provide a breakdown of the charges via email, discuss every question I had over the phone, they DONT charge ANYTHING for the certification of it, and price was as advertised. 3 days later i was a proud owner of a Mazda SUV . Moral of this story: RUN AWAY FROM THIS PLACE!! ( unless off course you are man getting getting a leased vehicle) More
I recently leased my second Mazda from Hamden Mazda and couldn’t be more pleased. Both times I had the pleasure of working with Lori Xeller and Doug Shatas. Lori always goes above and beyond and Doug is so couldn’t be more pleased. Both times I had the pleasure of working with Lori Xeller and Doug Shatas. Lori always goes above and beyond and Doug is so through with showing me all the features in my new Mazda and is awesome dealing with the car insurance. I can’t say enough about this dynamic duo. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND anyone going to this dealership. Although my sales experience was very pleasant with Anthony after dealing with their Finance manager Josh I now wish I never walked into this dealers Although my sales experience was very pleasant with Anthony after dealing with their Finance manager Josh I now wish I never walked into this dealership. After what was supposed to be a very exciting time In my life leasing a brand new 2024 Mazda CX-5 turned out to be the most stressful experiences of my entire life. Josh the finance manager who has multiple negative reviews has completely ruined my car buying experience at Hamden Mazda and I will never get another car from them again. I went and picked out the car on Friday 10/14 and came back the following day to sign all of the paperwork and get my vehicle. I worked with Josh and he completely rushed through the entire process, pressuring me to sign without fully reading the contract (discovered an undisclosed fee that was not explained later on). I wanted to transfer my registration and plates and I had told my salesperson that but Josh didn’t provide that option to me and I had to pay for a new registration and to get a new plate. When it came time for payment I handed him my 8,000 cashiers check and paid the difference that was still owed with my credit card. On the following Wednesday, Josh started calling me and texting me asking first how they collected the down payment. This was immediately concerning because as the Finance Manager who did all of my paperwork how are you asking me how the payment was collected? The next day he continued to call and text me saying now the office is not showing the check was receipted in and he thought it was in my paperwork I took home, which it was not. He then proceeded to threaten me that the office would hold back submitting my registration paperwork to the DMV. He immediately wanted me to cancel the check and have it reissued. I told him I was going to check with my bank before proceeding with anything. The following day Josh continued to call me and when he then proceeded to call my job asking for me! A complete invasion of privacy as the phone number provided should have been only used to confirm employment status NOT to be used to handle a finance discretion. So unprofessional! He then called me yet again and when I answered he was with the office manager Lori, I very sternly let them know they are NOT allowed to call my job for any reason and that once I am done with the bank I would reach out to them. They both acknowledged. Since the accusations had escalated to first not knowing how my down payment was collected, to it not being recited in to now me not giving them my check I was extremely uncomfortable with the narrative and I actually filed a police report against the dealership. Once I spoke to my bank and confirmed the check had not been cashed I was informed that it would be a 90 day turn around to get the check reissued. Again extremely uncomfortable being that they already threaten to cancel my registration and cancel my contact. When I was on my way back to the dealership to discuss the situation Josh yet again called me 3 times in a row from 2 different numbers (his cell phone & his office phone) and yet again CALLED MY JOB. This time from a number that has not been disclosed to him, meaning he had to look it up to get it! When I went to the dealership they never admitted to losing the check or wanted to admit fault. But how would you let someone drive off in a brand new 2024 car without collecting the down payment? How were they able to calculate the difference I owed if my $8,000 wasn’t accounted for? Why is the $8,000 showing as the down payment on my leasing paperwork? Why was Josh calling me so much if he did his job and I was in the wrong? Why did 2 employees handle my payment that day, one with a credit card and the other with a check but only one of them handed me back a receipt? Given my paperwork and all other documents that is the only narrative that makes logical sense More

Very poor service. I had dropped off my vehicle for service and was told it will be done by end of day. Trusting the dealership I went on my way and waited for a call. I had dropped off my vehicle for service and was told it will be done by end of day. Trusting the dealership I went on my way and waited for a call. No one call or texted me regarding my vehicle. I tried contacting the dealership service department and it was closed before the closing time. I tried several times to contact the sales department to see if they can help. They were not helpful especially the general manager. Very uncaring and unhelpful. It is apparent that they lack the common sense of notifying their customers. Poor service department and very poor communication with their paying customers. I do not recommend Hamden Mazda. More
I recently had the worst experience ever with this dealer. I had some problems with my truck and decided to have it towed to this particular dealer for repairs. However, the communication at the dealer was absolutely terrible. They never bothered to send me a diagnostic report of the problems, and instead, verbally stated that it would cost $15,000.00 to fix. Naturally, I requested them to provide me with a written estimate before proceeding with the repairs. But imagine my surprise when, after two months, someone from the dealer called me and asked me to pick up my truck without providing the estimate. So, I reminded them that I was still waiting for the estimate. Then, on the same day, another person called me and told me that the cost had skyrocketed to $43,000.00! Yes, you read that right, a whopping forty-three thousand dollars! Obviously, it became clear that they were just trying to blow me off and take advantage of the situation. And to add insult to injury, they want to charge me $500 for an oil change when my truck needs repairs worth $43k! I never authorized this service, and why on earth would they change the oil of a truck that needs expensive repairs? I felt the need to share this with you so that you can avoid such a terrible experience if you ever encounter a similar situation. Take caution when dealing with this particular truck dealer! More
