Bait and Switch! I had been looking at new trucks for several months and found a great price online for a new 2018 Silverado. After a bad experience with a different I had been looking at new trucks for several months and found a great price online for a new 2018 Silverado. After a bad experience with a different dealership, I wanted to get all my ducks in a row before travelling to this dealership since I live more than an hour away. I asked for an out the door price for the vehicle, including all rebates, taxes, title, dealer fees etc. and was given a good price for the vehicle. After my bad experience with the other dealership, I asked for this offer in writing (pdf through email!). Everything checked out as there were lines for rebates, taxes, title, fees so it was all spelled out for me. I was super excited for this truck and test drove it with the sales rep (whose name I do not recall). He was very friendly and informative, and I even joked about the other bad experience I had with the other dealer. After the drive, I had already gone through most of the purchasing and financing steps when I get a final price from the finance team – and the price is more than $3,000 more than the quote I was given. After some research form the sales/finance team – it was determined that there was a glitch in their system that stacked some rebates that I should not have been eligible for. At least they tried to work with me by offering more for my trade-in, and they did offer to fill my gas tank for my time and troubles - which the other dealership didn’t! The staff was friendly and very apologetic, and they did correct the advertised price of the truck after I left (since no one would be eligible for all the rebates), but I was still shafted and wasted over five hours of my life so they could bait and switch me in the end! More
