Since 2012 I purchased a personal vehicle (Equinox) and just traded it in after 5 years for a lease of a new BoltEV,, and purchased 1 new business vehicle (2016 Silverado) from this dealership with no issues whatsoever.. Harbor is a friendly, honest and no pressure environment. Family owned with a good staff. Very happy with the experience. And by the way, their service department is excellent as well. More
Car Bought Here Bought Back Circling back to provide a final update since the car was bought back by GM after months of issues. I still give Harbor Chevrolet 2 starts because th Circling back to provide a final update since the car was bought back by GM after months of issues. I still give Harbor Chevrolet 2 starts because the service dept. was great in getting my car in and looked at (with or without an appt.), but my experience with the car I bought here was disappointing. Got a new 2017 Chevrolet Malibu from Harbor Chevrolet in early 2017. Starting in September, 2017, I began to have issues with it that continued. The issues included: * 09/17 No Remote FOB Detected - Car Would Not Turn Off and/or On (Harbor Chevrolet found DTC C0750, C0755, C0765. Replaced Remote Control Door Lock Receiver.) * 09/17 No Remote FOB Detected Again - Car Still Wouldn't Turn Off or On (Harbor Chevrolet unable to duplicate issue.) * 09/17 Power Steering Reduced Message on DIC Came On (Harbor Chevrolet unable to duplicate issue.) and continued receiving this message ever so often. * 10/17 Engine Light On - P2097 Code Detected - Emission System (Harbor Chevrolet found DTC P2097 & reprogrammed ECM w/SPS.) * 12/17 Engine Light On - P2097 Code Detected Again - Emission System (Harbor Chevrolet found DTC P2097 & replaced both 02 sensors.) * 04/18 Horn Service Repair b/c it Died (Harbor Chevrolet found that right side horn not working and replaced it.) * 05/18 Engine Light On - P2097 Code Detected Again (Third Time) - Emission System (Harbor Chevrolet found DTC P2097. No solution offered since GM knew of the problem, but had no solution available.) I requested that the car be bought in Dec/2017 as I previously wrote, but GM denied the buyback. Since the issues continued into 2018 (the emissions issue being the worse one) and Harbor Chevrolet did not know what else to tell me beyond what the TSB's (technical service bulletins) said I contacted the BBB Autoline and began an arbitration claim. After GM collected all the service documents from Harbor Chevrolet (GM initially had received an incomplete set of service receipts from Harbor Chevrolet so the process took longer than expected) GM agreed to a buyback and I returned the car to Harbor Chevrolet. While I was very disappointed that I kept having repeated issues with this car (the final one being that I was never given a clear cut answer as to whether it would even be able to pass the smog check later this year given that the MIC issue was an emissions code) I am relieved that I no longer have it. I'm in a totally different car now and I hope that I never have to go through this process ever again. Not a big fan of the GM brand anymore (needless to say). Best advice for anyone reading this is to document everything that happens with your new car! Take care of it by ensuring you do all the required maintenance, but when issues outside normal wear-n-tear start coming up have them addressed. Follow your owner's manual recommendations re: filing complaints should issues arise that are not addressed. It provides a wealth of information as to what you can do to defend yourself in these types of cases per CA lemon laws. Also, don't expect the dealer to write any letters of support or make any calls for you supporting your case. At least with this case, I was solo in standing up for myself in addressing the ongoing issues with GM as I quickly learned after I started experiencing problems with the Malibu (Harbor Chevrolet did not lift one finger in helping me at all in having the car bought back!). To sum it up, buying a new car is a two way streak. You as the consumer are financing or leasing it and your responsibility is to maintain it (oil changes, tire rotations, etc.) while making your payments. The manufacturers responsibility is to ensure that it runs as intended without any abnormal problems arising and to offer a solution to those problems once they are presented. Its a business relationship (not a friendship) and if one party is unable to meet its side of the bargain then issues arise for who ever is at fault. Personally, wont be driving a GM anytime soon.
