Derick the salesman was excellent, very professional, accommodating and always answered his phone. Was not intending to purchase a vehicle "that day" however they were willing to accommodate our requests of a few items we wanted done to the car and their pricing was better than Van Bortel's for similar vehicle. Needless to say we agreed upon a deal that day and returned 3 days later and took delivery. Derick went above and beyond even after the sale. I would not hesitate to purchase from them again ! More
Strangest experience ever. First they showed me they had no room to negotiate. Showed me a picture of the computer screen that indicated they would only make $175.00 if I paid asking price. The very next da no room to negotiate. Showed me a picture of the computer screen that indicated they would only make $175.00 if I paid asking price. The very next day they dropped the price $2,000.00. I then got a call stating I had til 3:00 to put a deposit down or they would send the car to auction. I wasn’t going to be pressured like that so I let the deal go. We WERE getting closer and we could have made a deal. Oddly it’s 3 days later and the vehicle is still being advertised on cars.com. Stay away if you are looking for a used car!! On December 21st, 2018 my 27 year old daughter picked up her new 2016 Chevy Trax from Hartway Motors in Medina NY. This was a used vehicle with slight On December 21st, 2018 my 27 year old daughter picked up her new 2016 Chevy Trax from Hartway Motors in Medina NY. This was a used vehicle with slightly over 36,000 miles. Naturally, we were told the car was in great shape, and the dealership goes over all the vehicles. After a few day of ownership, my daughter noticed a sound like a clarinet tone when she used the brakes. This did not happen all the time, but when it did, it was very loud. Because the car had over 36,000, the warranty we had was for 60 days. My daughter called the dealership and made an appointment to have them look at the brakes. Before her appointment, she also noticed that if the car’s gas tank level was under ¼ tank, and she filled up, the indicator would not rise to a full tank right away, and would take days. She notified the dealership, and they said that they would look at that, along with the brakes. They said they replaced the brakes, and they did not find anything wrong with the gas sensor. After the service was complete, and the vehicle returned, things seemed ok, but a week or so later, we still have brake noise and sensor issues, but at a frequency of only sometimes. The frequency of occurrence makes it impossible to match a service appointment with occurrence. This has turned into a nagging reminder of how great this vehicle choice was. This now takes us to a couple of weeks ago. My daughter called me on her way home from work, her car had a check oil light and a very loud warning bell. She was near an oil change facility, so I told her to stop in. The mechanic on duty said her rear engine seal was leaking oil, and she was down 3 quarts. This car had less than 1,000 miles from time of purchase. We contacted Phillip, the service manager at Hartway, but they could not service it for a few day, and he said that it “should be covered under the powertrain warranty”, so we could take it to a closer Chevy dealer. My daughter made an appointment at West Herr Chevy in Orchard Park NY. She did not drive the car for close to a week, until her appointment. West Herr could not find the leak at first because the underside of the car was full of oil, noted by the Tech on the service statement. Must have been the 3 quarts we were missing from the beginning. Hartway must really look over their used cars.. NOT. West Herr completed the work for the oil leak, but the Tech noticed that the AC compressor was leaking, and suggested we contact the dealership of purchase. We contacted Phillip again at Hartway, and he said the AC compressor should be covered under the 60 day warranty, but after we dropped it off, and he inspected it, he said AC units were not covered under the NYS lemon law 60 day warranty. It would cost $500 for parts and $230 for labor. Remember, this vehicle only had around 1,000 miles and was in our possession for only 4-6 weeks. Out of the 6 weeks, it was un-drivable for 2 weeks. I contacted Lisa, the president of Hartway Motors, and expressed my concern about the oil leak, and all the other issues. Her first response was “well it was a used vehicle and you didn’t take the extended warranty”. Nice customer service.. NOT. I then received the sob story of how they could not stay in business if they repaired every car out of warranty. Again remember.. 1 ½ months old with only 1,000 miles driven. In addition, how many defective used cars must they sell, if fixing them within 60 days would cause a burden? After I ended the call, she called back to offer that we split the cost. With no other option, I accepted the offer. Therefore, my daughter had to pay $415 for the AC work. At this point, how can I view Chevy as a quality product, when with only 36,000 miles, we have engine seal leaks, AC compressor leaks, brake issues and gas tank sensor problems. How can I view the warranty coverage as adequate? If you are looking for a Used car remember the above when making your choice of what car to purchase, and what dealership to visit. More

I located the vehicle my father purchased online and from the start of requesting initial information to picking the vehicle up and taking it home, Hartway Motors was courteous, prompt, professional, and just flat our excellent in their response. The price of the vehicle was as good as anywhere around, to boot! They went over and above to make the overall experience as pleasant and easy for us as they possibly could. Would HIGHLY recommend using them if you are looking for a vehicle. My father and I traveled over 3 hours from Pittsburgh, PA to Medina, NY where they are located and we wouldn't hesitate to do it again! Thanks to Emily and Zak for making our buying experience great! Just another upset customer Very poor service, and probably the most unprofessional employees I have ever dealt with....wish I could give zero stars for everything. I purchased a Very poor service, and probably the most unprofessional employees I have ever dealt with....wish I could give zero stars for everything. I purchased a vehicle from there last April, so far it has been in for service 5 times, from small things including a rotten egg smell in the interior, to major engine overhaul. And yet the engine problem still exists. The check engine light comes on and goes off at random and when it comes on I lose all power and the car shuts down. Apparently they don't see this as a problem. I kept my emotions in check for nine months. Last week when I went in they were willing to let me trade in the vehicle. The next day the manager, Lisa, had the sales rep call me and tell me that instead she was changing the agreement of trade in, and that they would service the car and get it running "right" for me. This upset me and when I went in to talk to her, she was "in a meeting" and sent this other rude person, Mike, out to tell me they were in a meeting and it "didn't matter to me who they were in the meeting with" first of all I never asked that to begin with. Second, when I finally lose my patience and get upset, he tells me to leave and they will never help me out again, or service my vehicle as they said they would. So that's two lies. First, they were going to let me trade the vehicle in(which didn't happen thanks to Lisa, and second, they were going to service the vehicle for a 6th time(which also didn't happen) this is the worst dealer I have ever dealt with and would not recommend them to anyone. Just remember, you can always contact the BBB, NY state attorney general's office, and file complaints through the DMV just as I have More
Non-Trustworthy Dealership - Go someplace else! If I could give you no stars that would be what I would've done. However, it wouldn't allow. I wouldn't recommend this dealership to anyone. I have ha If I could give you no stars that would be what I would've done. However, it wouldn't allow. I wouldn't recommend this dealership to anyone. I have had NOTHING but problems with my car since I purchased it. Yes they have "attempted" to fix it and yet there are still issues. My first mistake was buying the car from Hartway Motors, and my 2nd mistake was taking it to their service station. I should've taken it to a different GM service station however did it because A) that's where I purchased the vehicle from B) convenience and C) trying to work with you all. When you read this review you will know who I am and I honestly do not care anymore. I have been nothing but patient, nice and TRUTHFUL which is something you all are not. You are dishonest and refuse to correct your invoices for repairs done to my vehicle. YOU ALL know you had my car there for 2 months at one point in time, however you give me an invoice that shows you had it for 5 days are you kidding me??!! I would've made you correct v the invoice right then and there except I had to pick up from the sales lot because the service station was closed. And quite frankly after 2 months of waiting on my car and having to use a loan car. I didn't want to wait another day, who would??! You all wouldn't if it were you would you now? Folks, do you want to know why this is such a problem? Because when you go for the Lemon Law GM wants to see invoices and when the invoices show 5 days instead of 60 days it's a HUGE difference. I am just utterly disgusted and will ensure you that this could've been easily taken care of. Now instead, I am going to be sure to share the experience that I have had with you dealership with as many people as I can. You say you cannot change the invoice because it would indicate fraud!! WHAT are you talking about!!?? I have emails from employees stating that the invoices aren't right but yet I am a customer that you know you'll never see again so you don't care. I wouldn't do business with you all if you were the last dealership around and that's the honest truth. I truly hope people read this and take this into consideration before ever doing business with Hartway Motor's. More
Worst car buying experience ever If there was an option to give 0 stars I would have picked that. Here's my story. Back in April I bought a 2010 Audi A4 from Hartway. I bought it f If there was an option to give 0 stars I would have picked that. Here's my story. Back in April I bought a 2010 Audi A4 from Hartway. I bought it from them because I was looking for a specific year/body style with black interior and exterior within a certain price range. Normally I would have gone through an Audi dealer but I was unable to find exactly what I was looking for. So I bought the car and noticed that a few of the tires were bald. In order to pass inspection they would need to be replaced. So they replaced them and the sales guy, Tom O'Sullivan, who I was working with said that they had to "special order" the tires because they were a rare tire size and were supposedly "very expensive". So he made it sound like I was getting a good deal. Well I looked online and those tires and the brand they put on were the cheapest of the cheap and are only about $55/ per tire. Then I had to take the car in for a 4 wheel alignment and pay $106.92 to have it aligned. Any idiot knows that when you put on new tires you should have it aligned so either their mechanics are incompetent or they just didn't give a crap. Also the reason it was out of alignment and only 2 of the 4 tires were worn irregular was because the rotors and pads were worn irregular possibly due to the sliders in the calipers or the calipers themselves. I just can't believe that they wouldn't have fixed the issue before selling the car. I feel like they just wanted to take my money and make a quick sale. But that's nothing, here's where it get WAY worse. After about 2 weeks of driving the car the oil light comes on and says to add a quart of oil. Added a quart and continued driving. Decided to have the oil changed again and topped it off. Approximately 2 weeks later it came on again. I researched the car online before I made the purchase and didn't see any bad reviews, etc. So I googled the year, make, and model and put oil consumption in after that and turns out that the 09, 10 models have a problem with the pistons that cause the car to burn excessive amounts of oil. About 1 quart every 700 miles, also because the oil consumption issue was settled as a class action lawsuit it does not show up as an open recall. Called Audi USA and they said that they "may" be able to work with me but I would have to take it into an Audi dealer to have serviced and go from there and normally would be covered under warranty but I was over the mileage. So I call Hartway Chevrolet and spoke with Sarah Brower and told her about this problem. She said that she would let one of the higher-ups know about this. The next day I got a call back from Mike Kuhmamn who is their used car manager and sales consultant. He basically gave me the run around and told me what I wanted to hear just to basically get me off the phone. At first he said it wasn't covered under the NYS lemon law and also because I had already drove the car over 1000 miles there was nothing they have to do legally. Well my issue is the fact that you wouldn't have even known if the card burned that much oil without driving it for close to 1000 miles anyway. Then he just told me what I wanted to hear and said that he'll make some calls and see what he can do which was a bunch of crap because I never heard back from them. They never offered to give me a partial refund or to even ask if I wanted to return the car. He just acted like he had no idea about the issue. Well if you didn't know then you shouldn't have bought the car at auction and regardless they should know what they are selling. They never ONCE offered or did anything to try and make it right. I got ahold of the folks down at Schmitt's Audi and Volkswagen and they were able to do the work at the warranty rate and then Audi USA stepped in and covered 20% of that rate. They did not cover it 100% because I was past the mileage warranty but they did work with me and corrected Hartway Motors mess, however it did cost me $2800 for new pistons and rings. Thanks for nothing Hartway. I can see why small dealerships like this are a dying breed and slowly going out of business one by one. Hopefully Hartway Motors isn't too far behind because with the way I was treated and the horrible service and the fact they just wanted to get the car sold they deserve to go out of business. I know a little more than the average person when it comes to cars and for them to not fix the issue with the oil, putting on new (cheap xxx tires) without having the vehilce aligned, or brakes when you could run your hands long the rotors and feel that they were warped and not have taken care of this gives me reason to belive that all they care about is taking your money. I would NEVER EVER recommend this place to anyone unless you like getting screwed over. When you buy a car from a dealer it should be in sound mechanical condition and if it needs parts then they should be replaced before the sale. Bottom line is that the dealer should take responsibility for every car they sell and not play the "we didn't know" card. Thanks for nothing Hartway, More
