Maddie at Hendrick Toyota Concord did a great job listening to our needs, finding the right vehicle for us, and being fair in negotiations. Salesman Dawson Williams is honest, humble, and knows Cash Talks and Cash Walks. I used to live in the area near this dealership; in fact, my 2016 Prius was purchased there. Shortly after purchasing th Cash Talks and Cash Walks. I used to live in the area near this dealership; in fact, my 2016 Prius was purchased there. Shortly after purchasing the Prius, I moved 75 miles away. On 2/28/25, I bought a 2025 Camry Hybrid from this dealership. On that day, I had an appointment nearby & decided to stop to look in the lot to see if a white, relatively new, Camry Hybrid with very low mileage was available. The car I ultimately purchased was 1 of 2 white Camrys on this lot. The price was too high when initially quoted. Also, I knew a car owner is better advised to sell his auto outright rather than trade it in on another vehicle. My dad taught me how to buy a car with cash: never on the same day you first see the vehicle. Rather walk away & let the salesman and manager come back to get you. On the day I bought the car, I started to walk away; but the manager urged me to stay. The manager bought my supper and encouraged me to negotiate further. The manager decided to lower the price first given to me by my salesman by about $2000. In addition, I could drive the car home that night if I would let the dealership run a credit check on me. Further, I had to agree to sign a loan with an interest rate over 7% and payments. This loan document would be shredded if I returned to the dealership within 7 days with cash. The whole proposition was repulsive to me when I could pay cash but just didn't have it with me that day. I was tired & had a husband with MS at home and 2 dogs waiting for something to eat. I needed a safer car with newer technology to drive in places like Annapolis & Baltimore, MD, where I have friends. I needed the lane sensors and radars to protect me in heavy traffic. My gut said this car is the one to buy now with the right price tag. However, it was Friday afternoon, and my money could not be wired from my investment account and processed fast enough. It would take a few days for me to have the cash in hand, but the manager gave me a week to return with cash. I returned to the dealership within the week. It was then that I learned this dealership has a "closer." The sales person who is the closer can make the deal happen when others cannot. That, to me, is unethical. If a salesperson sees a potential buyer really in need of a car and can help this person make a better deal toward the end of the week or month due to special offers given when car sales need to reach an expected quota, then why not give the customer a better deal. Maybe this customer is a single parent with a mortgage, insurance, etc., and is on a tight budget. Then his children get sick, cars break down, and this customer needs a miracle to get another vehicle. Hendrick Toyota of Concord can provide the miracle needed with an affordable vehicle for this customer. Why not give a person who needs it a hand up. Both parties benefit when the person gets an affordable deal & the dealership gets a car off its lot. I would like to trust the executives of car dealerships; but first, trust must be earned. Let's get rid of the notion that car salespersons cannot be trusted. Where did this notion come from? Think about it, and you executives do your best to earn the respect and trust of the people who buy your cars. More
