As a young, first time car buyer, I must say that Barry Braman at Hendricks Toyota of North Charleston did a WONDERFUL job helping me buy my 4Runner. After hearing all the crazy and horrendous stories about attempting to buy a car, I must admit that I was extremely nervous; however, not once did I feel pressured, scammed, or looked down upon because I was a younger female. They were honest with me about the pricing from the get go, and were able to make it work in my favor. I live in the upstate of South Carolina, but they were worth every minute of the 4 hour car ride. Barry even called me on the way down to make sure that I wasn't stuck in traffic or lost. When another family came in to look at the same car, he also called me and let me know rather than having it sold out from under my feet. This dealership has wonderful salesmen and I must say that I was spoiled on my first car buying experience. I would highly recommend anyone and everyone, even you Upstate people 3-4 hours away, to buy from Hendrick Toyota in North Charleston. More

I decided to lease instead of buy (which had to be explained to me multiple times so thank you) and he and his team did not mind my many questions. I already knew what car I had in mind even down to color on the outside and inside. Blake got the car down in 2-3 days! It is everything I wanted and he has checked on me every step of the way. Ensuring I understood everything in the new car as I was new to the whole hybrid thing. Made my husband and I feel very comfortable and confident we made the right decision. Great salesman, HORRIBLE PRICING Update on Jan. 15, 2017 visit: I was asked to come in so they could look at my trade-in again by their "corporate buyer", who turned out to just be a Update on Jan. 15, 2017 visit: I was asked to come in so they could look at my trade-in again by their "corporate buyer", who turned out to just be another manager. But, before then I decided to look at used vehicles and found a couple there. Decided on one and wanted to see if a deal could be done. Nope! We had the displeasure of working with one of their manager's, Patrick Coleman. We sat down with him because James Lindsey was busy with another customer once before on a Dec. 31, 2016 visit and didn't accomplish anything. He walked away and was gone for over five minutes, talked about his daughter, and was texting while he was sitting right in front of us, wasting more of our time. He was no help whatsoever. Back to my recent visit. We felt like he came across as condescending and he talked to us like we didn't know what was going on or what was involved. We know! He didn't even want to give us the time at all and that he didn't care. I know it's bull that money isn't made. I know the game. We're not stupid. A sticking point for me was our trade-in value and vehicle pricing. We never even got a chance to negotiate or work anything out. All he was fixated on was the trade-in value. Last I checked, their are other aspects of trading in a vehicle and buying one. Dealing with Patrick is really making it hard to trust Hendrick again. James Lindsey is the only reason that I'm putting up with them. He's the one that is putting in the work! Dec. 31, 2016 visit: I was very hesitant to check out Hendrick Toyota after my bad experiences with Hendrick Jeep down the road. I went to check out a new 4Runner to possibly take advantage of the year end Toyotathon sale. First off, the advertising for Toyotathon is very misleading. They advertise 0% for up to 72 months but that's only if you pay full sticker price. And the up to $8,000 off is pretty much the internet price online (in my case, it was $1,976). There is barely any negotiating at all. They did move a little bit on my trade-in value but that was it. On a positive note, I worked with James Lindsey. He is a fantastic salesman. He didn't pressure me into anything, was very informative, and took the time to actually treat me as a customer, not just a commission. I highly recommend working with him. In summary, I would recommend going to Hendrick Toyota just for James Lindsey. I would not recommend Hendrick Toyota because of their pricing. I actually worked out a vehicle price for the exact same vehicle from Fred Anderson Toyota for almost $5,000 less, including tax, title, tags, and everything. Well, their were only minor differences, vehicle color, tire brand, and the vehicle at Fred Anderson actually included all-weather floor mats. That deal is still in the works but nonetheless Fred Anderson is more than willing to work with you. Now I understand why they say they always beat Hendrick. Because they do!!! More
