Best car buying experience... drove 5 hours This was easily the best car shopping/buying experience I've ever had. I was searching for a very specific Mazda 6 in a 300 mile radius from Charlest This was easily the best car shopping/buying experience I've ever had. I was searching for a very specific Mazda 6 in a 300 mile radius from Charleston, South Carolina and was prepared to pay with cash. The local Mazda dealership had what I wanted but they were incredibly disinterested in my business and very unprofessional. They were priced well above Hennessy (albeit not far off other dealers) but were unwilling to budge on the price. They seemed more interested in talking me into financing even though I was paying cash because it would be to do it that way. At that time, I was trying to avoid having to make a 5 hour drive to Morrow and made the local dealership a very reasonable offer for the car. It took them more than two days to respond, and the response was less than satisfactory. For three days after I turned them down, their "internet sales specialist" harassed me over email and phone until I flatly told her to stop. She was totally unaware that I had been in to test drive the car, had made an offer, and turned down their counter offer already. At this point, I ramped up communication with the folks at Hennessy and they did not disappoint. I had originally spoken with Mike, who was incredibly helpful and welcoming... he was promoted to sales manager the next day, so he hooked me up with Omar, who had worked along side him for over 9 years. Omar was amazingly attentive to my desires and answered every question I had along the way; he even sent me photos several times to help ease my concerns. Through it all, he stuck with an honest approach, keying me into a few small defects that no one would ever notice. He knew I needed to feel confident if I was going to make a 10 hour round trip for the car; I felt I might have been a bit of a pest but he assured me that he fully understood the need for assurances when shopping long distance! He succeeded in making me feel confident, and I rented a one way trip there (wink wink - Enterprise is literally across the street from Hennessy!) Hennessy Mazda has a dedicated pre-owned sales building with at least 10 salesmen in addition to as many support staff and financial guys. They were busy (for a reason!) but not once did I see them fail to open the door for a customer or co-worker coming in or out of the door. I was also never left waiting alone - obviously the paperwork takes a while at times, but various folks kept checking on me during those short waits. I was never pressured... not once. Omar and Mike were as genuine and friendly in person as they were over the phone. Mohammed, who did the final financials and title work, was very classy and friendly as well. When all was settled and I had the keys in my pocket, Mike drove my new Mazda6 across the highway to Enterprise so I wouldn't have to cross traffic on foot after returning the rental. While at Enterprise, Omar - who was showing cars to his next appointment - texted me to tell me to have a safe drive home and to say he was sorry that he missed me when he realized the car was already gone. When I drove Mike back over to the dealership, I made a point to say goodbye to Omar in person. Fast forward five hours… the Mazda 6 made for the most enjoyable 5 hours on the road! The next day, on cue, Omar called to see if I had a nice trip home. Simply put, the customer service and buying experience at Hennessy Mazda was beyond fantastic.... couple that with the fact their prices are already amazing due to their high volume/low mark-up sales model, and I would gladly make the long trip again the next time I am in the market! More
