I made a service appointment because the backup camera on our 2103 Prius stopped working. I told them that the radio and dashboard screen are both working fine. After the technician pulled out the radio, our 2103 Prius stopped working. I told them that the radio and dashboard screen are both working fine. After the technician pulled out the radio, a service person called and asked whether someone else had installed or worked on the camera. No, I said, we had it added by you when we bought the car. They said it was the work of an outside vendor who is no longer in business, that Chambers doesn't know anything about the wiring harness and can't do anything for me. AFTER I had paid the $189 charge, the service person told me that before Toyota began installing backup cameras as standard equipment, Chambers bought them from and had them installed by a third-party vendor. What? That means that as we talked when I brought the 12-year-old car in, they knew that they couldn't do anything for me because an outside vendor had done the installation. *They could have told me that without even looking at the car and charging me $189 for doing so.* We have bought our last two cars from Chambers Toyota and have been quite satisfied with our Service Dept. contacts. In this case, though, I feel we have been very badly served by Herb Chambers Toyota and charged $189 essentially for nothing – for the same information they could have provided with no work and at no charge. I am very dissatisfied with that. More
I trusted this Toyota service center with my car, but they lifted it incorrectly and caused visible damage to the lower side of the vehicle (photos attached). Very slow service. Was in for an oil change and tire rotation and a minor recall. I received a notice that the work was done, together with a nice video. And then had to wait over 30 minutes to get the invoice to pay up and leave. Can’t recommend for quick service, sadly. More
