Short Story: Not trustworthy. Tried to sell my car to them and they wanted me to wait up to 45 days for the over $20,000 check. I refused and then went to Carmax where I got both a better offer (by $1200 dollars better) and my check the same day. Longer story: Had been a client of Rock Hill Honda for over 10 years. Bought 5 cars from Hendrick and 2 from this Rock Hill location. All service on all three Honda cars has been completed religiously at the Rock Hill Honda. We were already frustrated with the last purchase when they had us open an account at a Credit Union to provide financing. Then after we had signed everything they switched the financing to Wells Fargo without our permission. All because their dealership could make more money on the financing, not because it was better for us. Then we had an account at a credit union that we didn’t want and we’re paying financing to a bank we do not support. Now, this last experience was selling our car to them. Went in during the week and spent over an hour to get car inspected and them making an offer. We did not haggle and then made an appointment for that following Saturday to drop off the car and pick up the check. On Saturday we arrive and had to wait 45 minutes to start the process. There was more documentation and forms to sign. Then after another hour finally finance guy comes out with forms and we thought the check. Instead they had us signing power of attorney for North Carolina and then another for South Carolina. They had copies of our drivers license and social security information, everything. As a last step after all this they tell us that we would not get the check for our car for about 45 days. 45 days!!!!! Why did they not tell us that up front. They knew we were using this money to buy another car from a private seller. The finance guy then starts insulting my wife saying she wasn’t even here earlier in the week. It’s not his fault we didn’t know and that he didn’t tell us about the 45 day wait for a check. When we told him to give us the car back he hesitated like he was going to talk us into 45 days being ok to wait. They could take our car, start selling it on their lot, and not pay us for 45 days…. To top it off I came home and called both Carvana and Carmax and both would give us a check same day. The Carmax offer also turned out to be $1200 more than the Rock Hill Honda offer. My advice do not trust the people at Rock Hill Honda and do not sell your car to them. They will try to take advantage of you. More
