I purchased a 2016 MINI Cooper S from Honda of Downtown Chicago in May 2026 and, based on my experience, I cannot recommend this dealership. When I test-drove the vehicle on May 15, I noticed that the c Chicago in May 2026 and, based on my experience, I cannot recommend this dealership. When I test-drove the vehicle on May 15, I noticed that the check-engine light was on. I agreed to purchase the car at the full asking price, but specifically requested that the check-engine issue be addressed before I took delivery. When I picked up the MINI on May 21, I was told the check-engine light had been cleared and the issue addressed. Less than a month later, on June 19, the check-engine light came back on. After contacting Honda of Downtown Chicago, I brought the vehicle back for service on June 28. Following multiple calls over several days, the dealership ultimately arranged to have the car taken to a MINI dealer. The MINI dealer diagnosed a faulty component related to the fuel system and provided a repair estimate of more than $700. What makes this experience particularly frustrating is that the check-engine warning existed before I purchased the vehicle. I specifically raised the issue and relied on the dealership to address it before delivery. Had I known the underlying problem remained, I would have handled the purchase very differently. I have made multiple efforts to resolve this matter directly with Honda of Downtown Chicago. The experience has required an unreasonable amount of my time and follow-up for a problem that was apparent before the sale. I am documenting my experience so other used-car buyers know to ask questions, obtain documentation of any promised repairs, and consider having a vehicle independently inspected before accepting delivery. Based on my experience with the sale and the dealership's handling of the subsequent problem, I would not purchase another vehicle from Honda of Downtown Chicago and cannot recommend the dealership. The remark was disrespectful, discriminatory, and completely unacceptable from someone in customer service. Before David was brought in, we had a great experience with Meg and honestly would have purchased in the end if David didn't treat us so abhorrently. More
I had a very disappointing experience with Honda of Downtown Chicago. About three hours before leaving home, I texted Tyson, the manager I had been working with, to verify the interior color of the Downtown Chicago. About three hours before leaving home, I texted Tyson, the manager I had been working with, to verify the interior color of the vehicle because my family and I were planning to drive about an hour and a half to see and test drive that specific car. He replied that the interior was gray, so we made the trip. When we arrived, Tyson wasn’t even there. Another employee informed us that the vehicle had already been sold. What disappointed me most was that no one contacted us before we made the long drive. We had been communicating with the dealership that same day, and a quick text or phone call letting us know the car had sold would have saved us three hours of driving and a completely wasted trip. After driving all that way only to find out the car was gone, I was so frustrated that we left immediately. I wasn’t interested in looking at other vehicles after our time had been wasted. We came to see one specific car. I understand that used cars can sell at any time, but better communication is part of good customer service—especially when a customer is traveling from over an hour away. Unfortunately, that wasn’t our experience. More

BAIT AND SWITCH This dealship is untrustworthy and we have choosen to take our business elsewhere. We are extremely dissapointed this vehicle would have been a great addition to our daily lives. have choosen to take our business elsewhere. We are extremely dissapointed this vehicle would have been a great addition to our daily lives. I used the Online service to reach out and was contacted the next morning very promptly. I was told by the gentleman who called that I would be contacted by another sales rep since I was out of state. This all seems fine. I am contacted by the new salesman. We go back and forth on the price to make sure I understand correctly. I was planning to buy a plane ticket and fly out to pick up the vehicle the next week. The salesman sends me a video of the vehicle and it is the wrong one. I point this out and he apologizes and goes to find my vehicle. I am about 20 minutes from purchasing a plane ticket, taking time off work and giving a $1000 deposit when he calls to tell me the car has been towed! A little over 2 weeks goes by and the car is still in impound. There is "an issue with the title". The salesman and I communicate some over this two week period to make sure the deal is still on and he assures me that it is. He finally messages me that they have the car back, but the want to raise the price by %26. "They are going to make the car brand new tho." "The gm said they will replace everything on the car, even fix the cosmetic damages." I immeadiately asked for a list of the repairs, and pictures of any cosmetic damages and was assured I would get them ASAP. Also, the repairs would probably all be done within a week. I never received the list. I reched out the next day and asked for pictures of the tires, and tread depth measurment on the tires and was told I would get picutres and videos. I still haven't recieved anything. I finally started doing some research. According to google, this is a classic Bait-And-Switch technique. It is illegal at Federal and State level. Honda of Downtown Chicago is already under investigation for this exact behavior. In March 2026 the FTC issued an official Deceptive Pricing Warning Letter to Honda of Downtown Chicago, explicitly cautioning them against advertising low vehicle prices and then raising the cost or forcing mandatory add-ons at checkout. Poor customer service, I purchased my vehicle on September 19, 2025 and the dealer never contacted me to confirm they received the wire transfer from my bank. I reach out to the sales representative September 19, 2025 and the dealer never contacted me to confirm they received the wire transfer from my bank. I reach out to the sales representative multiple times and did not receive a response until after I escalated the issue to the finance manager. I did not receive an apology at all, and they made the transfer a disaster, the sales representative could not find the 2nd key to my vehicle on the day I went to receive it. If I could rate this dealership 0/5 I would. More
We called about a 2025 honda hrv lx that we saw online for 23200. Then I set up an appointment to see it and on the way to the appointment they are blowing up my phone about when am I going to get there a for 23200. Then I set up an appointment to see it and on the way to the appointment they are blowing up my phone about when am I going to get there and how far I am. When I get there they show me the wrong car and I don't notice since it was the same color as the one we saw online until we get to the paper work and I see the 2k price increase. Then they tell me that the car I had asked to see was parked in a different area and we had to wait about 2 hours for them to finally bring the car. They bring the car and we see bunch of damage all over, the car smelled like someone had been smoking non stop in it. We ask if they can clean it and repair at least the windshield with scratches. They convince us to get a $6100 extended warranty in order to get a lower rate and also that's the only way they will repair anything on the car. They say they will take just a couple of days and then they will deliver the car. Mind you we already had been at the dealership from about 11am to about 6 pm since they couldn't get the paper work ready. They took 6 days to deliver the car and absolutely nothing was done to it. The car still smelled horribly and the windshield was still scratched. Since we signed the contract they would not answer my calls after and make it a hassle to cancel the extended warranties. I am canceling all extended warranties and never coming back to this dealer again. Please save yourself the trouble. This is the worst experience I have ever had at a dealership. More
