My husband and I walked in to the Honda of Tenafly dealership on Saturday afternoon with no intention of buying that day since we had just started our search for a new car. This was our second stop. We had never purchased a new car before -- ours were always used and bought privately with cash. Herbie was terrific -- friendly, professional and not pushy. I wound up falling in love withe the Honda Element and after a test drive, we purchased a 2010 demo model off the showroom floor. Herbie made the whole transaction understandable and doable. We were thrilled to be able to drive our new car home two days later. He dealt with the department of motor vehicles, our insurance company and the financing. Have had a great experience at Honda of Tenafly. The salesman that I have used to lease two cars for myself and two cars for my daughters, Herbie Rosario is a great sales person. Herbie is the dictionary definition of a professional. He was very knowledgeable, friendly, patient, and organized. We did a lot of shopping at other Honda dealers and Herbie was the only one who treated us was very knowledgeable, friendly, patient, and organized. DC Honda was the third dealership we visited in the same day. The others were quickly forgotten when we met Doug Daniele. Far from the mellifluous but hollow sales spiel received elsewhere, Doug delivered solid comparative advice that had the wherewithal of a forensic investigator. Few sales people are able to leverage the traffic running by their shop to demonstrate the advantages of their car brand. Doug did just that with a comparison of engines, body type, and ride. It wasn't only the depth of his knowledge that led us to a decision, but his delivery - somewhere between a seasoned DA on a complicated case and an earnest character actor hired for their authenticity. He's a fervent advocate for the Honda brand - a brand that deserves it. I highly recommend Doug for your car purchases. More
Back in June my car died and I needed a new one, fast. I chose a Honda Civic because of reputation and fuel efficiency and did my research about models, pricing and current marketplace. Once I new what I wanted and what I wanted to pay I headed to the dealerships. I did the dance at two dealerships in Bergen County. I have been a salesman for 10 years so I understand the process and the posturing and the game. I played it for two days with the opening price being a few hundred off sticker and the walk to the manager and the appearance of the closer and all that crap. These guys would not reach my out the door price and I was getting fed up and about to consider my 2nd choice car. Then I went to Honda of Tenafly and met Herbie Rosario. I hadn’t considered Honda of Tenafly because the dealership seemed small and I thought the larger dealerships on the big highway would do a better job on pricing. In an exhausted state and not expecting much I sat down at Herbie’s desk and prepared myself for act III of the dealership dance. Instead Herbie looked at my wrinkled brochures and printed up pages and said “What’s going on? Looks like you did some research.” I told him what I had done for the last two days and what I had been hoping for and what my response had been and he said. “Your target price is kind of low, we want to make more of a profit on the car than that but you’re here let me see what we can do.” And off he went. I was happy I found a guy who wasn’t going to waste my time. The little dealership would just disagree with my price let me move down to Toyota and let me buy a car already. Herbie came back and told me that the amount over invoice that I wanted, they were not willing to do. He showed me the amount they wanted to make and I wasn’t willing to go that high. He then began to compute the out the door price. Honda of Tenafly is so straight forward with their fees that the final price that they calculated was $90.00 less then my target price. The other dealers had added all those acquisition, transport and security fees to inflate the cost while Tenafly simply stated their profit goal and then streamlined the back-end. Honesty and integrity is not something you find a lot at car dealerships, but Herbie Rosario sells a product he believes in, knows exactly what each car needs to be sold for in order to make a deal and represents his company in the best way possible. I have found my car guy and look forward to the first friend or family member I could place in Herbie’s dependable hands. More
