I am extremely unhappy with my experience at Honda of Toms River. My husband visited the dealership in the morning test drove the pre-certified, pre-owned car we were interested in and sat down to try a Toms River. My husband visited the dealership in the morning test drove the pre-certified, pre-owned car we were interested in and sat down to try and "make a deal." Unfortunately, we could not agree upon the sale price and my husband left the dealership. Later that afternoon when I got home from work we called the dealership and spoke with Erik to let him know we were still interested in the car and wanted to see if we could meet in the middle and agree upon a price for the car. Erik is the manager at Honda of Toms River and told us that we were getting an end of the day manager special and we verbally agreed to a fair amount of the pre-owned pre-certified car we were looking at earlier in the day. My husband and I went back to the dealership and after 2 more hours we were brought over to finance to complete our paperwork. Looking over the paperwork we realized that the numbers did not match the verbal agreement that we had made with Erik and when we questioned the interest rate we were receiving we were told that the car was being sold as a used vehicle so the interest rate would be higher. We told the gentleman in finance that the car was advertised as a pre-owned, pre-certified vehicle and Eric said that in order for us to have the warranty that comes with that we would need to pay extra out of pocket. Eric and another manager were extremely rude and unwilling to compromise on the price that was agreed upon and told us if we didn't want the car to leave the dealership. We find the managers to be extremely unprofessional and untrustworthy. We will definitely not return to purchase any vehicles from this dealership in the future, and if we know anyone interested in purchasing a Honda we will strongly recommend that they go somewhere where they can trust that they are getting what they were told that they would receive. Chris my service rep. was a pleasure to deal with. He ALWAYS returned my calls promptly if he was unavailable when I called to check the progress on my vehicle. This is my 2nd purchase with Honda of Tom's River, both experiences were pleasent and professional. This time I upgraded to a 2022 Civic Sport. I could not be happier with the car.
