I have purchased cars in the past and have never had such a feeling of extortion from any Dealership I’ve dealt with. Prior to me coming to the dealership it was well known that I was paying cash. The sales person tried to convince me to finance the car for three months , I expressed that would be crazy for me to pay interest on a car when I’m paying for it outright. When I arrived at the dealership, the sales person gave me the “bottom line“ which included a $933 surcharge because I was paying cash. CRAZY! I refused and told them I was out…they reconsidered, but they lowballed me on my trade-in telling me that the chipped paint on my rear bumper couldn’t be sanded down and repainted ,that the entire bumper would need to be replaced. She told me it would cost them $4000 for the job!! Total crap! The sales person kept telling me they weren’t making money on this car because truecar had it listed at the price they did. That sales person then had to leave for a doctors appointment and another sales person picked up almost an hour later to have me sign paperwork and provide the payment. I was handed the keys to the car and I asked if I was getting another set of keys. They asked me if this was a CPO, I told him that it was and when they came back to me again, I was informed it was not a CPO! The dealership told me that truecar is responsible for what is put on the site and the dealership has no control. The salesperson stated that because it says that it is certified pre owned only means that the CPO is available if I purchase it for $1900!! I spoke to TrueCar and they informed me that the information that’s on the site is provided by the dealership and if the dealership says it is a certified preowned car, that’s what I should have received. My car was also delivered with a “This car is a certified preowned vehicle from Honda of Tom’s River“ tag on the front of it! Truecar was going to notify the dealership of my complaint and the discrepancies the dealership reported about the management of the TrueCar site. True car felt that someone should be reaching out to me to make this right, but as of this time, I have not heard anything from the dealership. I feel the dealership should honor what was listed and certify this vehicle as certified pre-owned. As far as everything else is concerned, I would like the dealership to offer me an extended warranty on them! More
