Unfortunately, there is no way to completely diagnose why your check engine light is on without first diagnosing the issue with your cam communication. The cam communication issue was an issue within your vehicle's system and not an issue with our diagnostic reader, therefore they could not move forward with the diagnostics until this issue was first diagnosed and resolved. Again, we do apologize for this unfortunate experience and would want nothing more than to resolve this issue with your vehicle for you.
