When I called JM Lexus about getting my first service on my NX300h I explained I was not getting the 31MPG as indicated for my vehicle. The most I get is 26. Also, the battery ladder indicated on my info sc my NX300h I explained I was not getting the 31MPG as indicated for my vehicle. The most I get is 26. Also, the battery ladder indicated on my info screen never shows full charge to the top. I said the battery depletes very quickly. I was assigned to Brandon in Service. When I checked in and saw Brandon he said he was not familiar with hybrid issues and he made a call to speak with someone else. He said that person said it was normal for the battery indicator not to show a full charge and they would look into the MPG issue. I also told him I have been able to use my foot to open the tailgate only once, that mostly I can’t get it to work. A few hours later I got a call from Brandon that my car was ready. He said everything tested as normal. He said every time I fill the tank with gas I need to push the reset button. He tried to activate the tailgate with his foot and could not, repeatedly. I tried it and it worked. I told him it must be one of those cosmic mysteries. I went into the showroom before leaving and looked at the new models. While there German was walking by and I said hello. He had given me my technical orientation on my first RX350. I explained my issues to him on my hybrid. He went point by point explaining that the battery is not supposed to fully charge. That way it has much more longevity in the long run. He said the car can run on battery only for about two miles and then the gas engine turns on to recharge the battery. He said he gets about 30-31 MPG with his hybrid. I asked him about the tailgate foot sensor. He showed me that you only have to move your foot toward the middle of the bumper and underneath, pulling your foot back quickly and don’t let your foot get closer than a few inches from underneath the bumper. I tried it and it worked every time. Now I realize I should have gone to see German in the first place. Later I looked in my owner’s manual and found nothing on having to push the reset button when I fill up on gas. I forgot to ask German about that. My rating of service with Brandon - - no stars. Help from German - - 5 stars. More
