30,000 mile service I expect top service from Toyota, since they have a high quality reputation and I paid for the name brand. When I mentioned that I intended to do the I expect top service from Toyota, since they have a high quality reputation and I paid for the name brand. When I mentioned that I intended to do the oil changes after the covered changes expire the service advisor seemed to disapprove. He then gave me the sales pitch on why I should us them. He even mentioned the lounge food. Really, I purchased a vehicle for over $30,000. I can buy a sandwich and a drink for a few dollars someplace. It struck me as kid of lame. I know he works for the dealership and that would be part of his job, but really if you own a pick-up and can’t do your own oil change you shouldn’t own a pick-up. Then he says I can’t buy the items for the oil change cheaper than what they supply. That is just wrong. I have priced them and I’m sure I will be using a better grade of oil. I can buy the stuff and still do it for about $20 less. It was not a lot, but still I didn’t need the attitude. I had mentioned that I only had Toyota do anything with the tires and that at some point a valve cap had been left off. He said he would make sure it was replaced. It was not. I don’t say anything, but why would I expect top service on a major item if Toyota couldn’t make sure such a simple item was taken care off? Shouldn’t the service department make sure a cap is on every car that leaves the shop? Really, what does a cap cost vs a customer questioning the quality of service received? If I would have been paying for tire service, I would have been really annoyed. Or does Toyota give lesser service to those not paying the high shop rate? More
