The service of the vehicle was acceptable. When I received the vehicle I commented to the service person that it smelled foul odor of water/mildew. I arrived and discovered the back seat area on the received the vehicle I commented to the service person that it smelled foul odor of water/mildew. I arrived and discovered the back seat area on the drivers side was sopping wet. It appears that there was rain or water spilled all over the back seat area and created mildew smell. When planning on making a decision on the purchase of a Kia, I wouldn’t recommend Jim Ellis and his Kia dealership in Kennesaw, GA. They wanted to replace a catalytic converter for $4,000. Guess what? Tha Kia, I wouldn’t recommend Jim Ellis and his Kia dealership in Kennesaw, GA. They wanted to replace a catalytic converter for $4,000. Guess what? That wasn’t the problem. Wasn’t even close. A competitor priced the same service for $3,300 less. Hmmm. Makes you wonder. I had the good sense to get a second opinion. This dealership is nothing but a smooth talking organization that tries to tell you what they want you to hear. Remember, the more they up-sell services, the bigger the paycheck. Every time I see the Jim Ellis family commercial on WSB-TV, I’m reminded that all that’s seen is not how it really is. I’ve certainly seen nothing that comes close. I am the owner of a 2014 Kia Soul with 109,000 miles. This vehicle was bought new at Jim Ellis Kia in Kennesaw. The vehicle is under an open recall because of a defective design flaw in the engine as well an extended warranty to take care of additional repairs if needed. I’m sure most people have seen the news, showing these vehicles catching on fire traveling down the road, as well as being parked and after being parked in the garage. My Kia Soul uses excessive gasoline and between 4-5 quarts of oil between oil changes which is every 5,000 miles. I was told by a service tech that this is normal for a vehicle with this many miles. Someone needs to get more training before they try to charge someone $4,000 for a repair that isn’t necessary. As for me, I will take my business elsewhere. All I can say about Jim Ellis Kia is buyer beware. I cant believe that Kia North America would tolerate this from any of their dealerships. I’ve also discovered that Kia corporate doesn't seem to care or be concerned about the Kia reputation. This isn’t the only issue I’ve had with Kia. Back in the spring, I was on my way to Knoxville to visit a relative in the hospital when my care went into “Limp Home Mode. I’m out $1,100 because I was refused a loaner from Parkside Kia in Knoxville, TN. The $250 part and labor was covered under the extended warranty, I will add here that it took two weeks to get the repair done. I had to figure out how to get to and from Atlanta. Thus the rental car. After multiple calls and faxing the paperwork to Kia Corporate, I was told they never got the paperwork, even though I have confirmation numbers showing the documents were faxed and received. I have the paperwork and the confirmation numbers. I was still denied reimbursement for the $1,100 rental car. I’m in the process of selling my home here in Georgia. The sale of my home did include buying a new vehicle. I can assure you that Jim Ellis Kia lost that money because of the poor quality of the Kia Soul and their refusal to do what’s right. The car is still under warranty, but I’ve discovered that dosent mean anything. So buyer beware. This was my second Kia purchase. Both were bought at Jim Ellis Kia in Kennesaw. It was a hard lesson to learn. I made the mistake of trusting Jim Ellis Kia. I can assure you, that I will not make that mistake again. I have all the recall notices and all my service records. If anyone would like to read their mission statement, it can be found on the wall in the service department. Personally, I find that statement very disconcerting. What I read, in my case, doesn't fit that mission statement. The general manager did reach out to me to investigate the issue. All I’m asking if this dealership to honor the warranty and do what’s right concerning my vehicle. More
