Even during these rough inventory times, my salesman stayed in touch with me to help me find the perfect vehicle! Vehicle was delivered early, and everyone jumped through hoops to take care of me. Everyone at Jim Norton Toyota Tulsa was so helpful to us in the car buying process. Nicholas Craddock was there with us from the beginning taking care of us and explaining everything in detail. I never felt in the car buying process. Nicholas Craddock was there with us from the beginning taking care of us and explaining everything in detail. I never felt confused! He also did an excellent job on being available to call if I had any questions. Nicholas did a great job keeping in contact and updating us with our vehicle. I am very satisfied with my experience and I’m sure someday I’ll be buying another vehicle from them when the time comes. More
I was first contacted by a sales representative after using their website to check the cost of a new RAV4. I was just looking at the time and didn’t respond to their email. A few days later I was sent an using their website to check the cost of a new RAV4. I was just looking at the time and didn’t respond to their email. A few days later I was sent an email from a different representative, Ashley, who states they are a Customer Service Assistant in their email signature. I ended up responding to that email to try to get more information about a RAV4. Ashley emailed me again asking if I had received the requested information. When I said no they stated they will pass along this information to their manager. I unsurprisingly never heard back from anyone. I ended up just driving to the dealership to get the information I requested. Once there I met with George “Wes” Koch. He explained that Ashley was a virtual assistant. Having a virtual assistant is fine, however that should be stated somewhere in their email signature and sales/management should be checking it often. Wes explained that the RAV4 I had requested information on had already been reserved. Having vehicles that have already been reserved posted on your website is poor form. They had no other RAV4s currently available to be reserved, but I was told I would be contacted once they receive a new list of RAV4s from the manufacturer. As a note I told Wes I was planning to drive out of state for a few months for work and that my boss wanted me leaving by the start of April. When I told Wes this he said it should be doable. However, it seemed to slip his mind that the car would need to be registered and that can take up to 30 days after the purchase. I was contacted about a week later with RAV4s that would be available for purchase. They didn’t have a new RAV4 hybrid available at the time for test drive, so Wes set up a few different vehicles to help me get idea of how the RAV4 would feel. He did a good job with this. I did have a few concerns with the headroom of the RAV4 and the price. There was not any wiggle room in the cost. So MSRP + $757 accessories + $995 JNT (a Jim Norton Protection Package). This isn’t ideal, but it reasonable compared to other Toyota dealerships I talked to around the Tulsa area. I ended up putting down a $500 deposit and was told it should be at the dealership around the end of March. This was about a month long wait, which is reasonable given the market. I should note that after I had put down the deposit on that RAV4, it still showed up on their website as available for purchase. Wes could have kept me informed a bit better. I would expect once a week call/text/email confirming the original timeline is still on track. However, he missed a week. In a call to confirm my information a few days before the RAV4 was set to arrive at the dealership, he forgot about my trade-in. He said sorry and I told him to email me the information he needs. He never emailed me and when I called the next day, he said he will get the needed information when I come to finalize my purchase of the RAV4. The RAV4 showed up at the dealership on time. The finance guy stated that the dealership needed a check when the down payment exceeds $5000, they ended having to split the down payment between two of my credit cards. The need for a check was not mentioned by Wes. The financial guy tried to sell me a $4,500+ warranty, that was shown as monthly payments combined with the RAV4 price. This was without showing me the monthly payments of just the RAV4. This is a malicious tactic. When he realized that wasn’t going to happen he said that he was trying to feed his family. He came back with a more reasonable warranty, but I still declined. It went pretty fast after that and the financing rate was what I expected. The RAV4 is great. However I noticed a few problems with the dealer installed protection package. There was a hair under the plastic on the hood and what looked like to be a small air bubble under the plastic near the bottom of the driver side door edge. I sent Wes some photos and was told to come in to get that fixed. The hood area was fixed. However, the driver side door edge was not an air bubble. It was a paint chip. A paint chip on a brand new car, that the dealer had installed plastic over, not once but twice. This realization came after Wes had returned the car keys to me and sent me on my way. He made no mention of this. I had pointed out the area on the door and hood I had concerns with when I first arrived at the dealership. This was either him not checking after the work was done or he simply didn’t care. The paint chip is fairly small, I probably wouldn’t have even noticed it if there wasn’t a hair under the plastic on the hood. That made the work look sloppy and caused me to double check all of the dealership installed work. If the chip wasn’t under the plastic I could have assumed an extremely unlucky rock chip. However, I cannot imagine a single way I could have caused that chip since the plastic was undamaged around the paint chip. I ended up just buying some paint to fix it myself as I was severely lacking faith in them correcting their mistake. Jim Norton Toyota Tulsa is not necessarily a terrible dealership, however my experience could have been significantly better. More
