I could not have had a better experience leasing a car! Roger Yiu is the Executive General Manager for both Johnson Lexus of Durham and Raleigh. I have bought and leased more than fifteen cars over the years and Mr. Yiu far exceeded any expectations. He helped my elderly parents negotiate an extremely fair lease, took great care in his explanation of what would be in their best interest, was not pressuring and was extremely supportive. He was able to include me in on the process to make sure I felt comfortable that they were being taken care of properly. His sales and service department are tightly run with great staff. While I live in NY, I will be working with him in the future for my own car and those of other family members. Great job on all counts!! More
My husband and I went to this dealership on 7/6/21 to purchase potentially two vehicles for a cash price which was clearly advertised on their website. When I got there and asked about the cash price as advertised, I was told that they knew nothing about it , and had never seen it before online. Both the salesman and the manger tried pulling up and following my same steps on their computers, but could not. I pulled up the site on my laptop, using their internet, and showed them that ALL the VIN and Stock numbers matched their system. We were told by the manager that “their site had been hijacked”, that “ someone is trying to get people to wire them (hijacker) money using low prices as a lure”, that “we don’t ever list a cash price on our websites and that the cash price would be higher anyway because we make less money when customers pay cash”, that “the phone numbers listed were not theirs”. I explained that as a consumer that all I can go on is what I see on their website with the secured lock symbol at the top. I explained that I simply googled “Johnson Lexus of Durham”, and that this site came up. I further explained that I had been emailed by a sales representative days earlier from that very website after putting my information in. Further , my husband called the number listed which had been stated as not being theirs, and it rang and was answered by a staff person a few doors down as we sat in the building. My husband also asked why wouldn’t a “hijacker” have the calls routed to their “office”, if the goal is to deceive potential customers. We asked if the price of at least the main vehicle we were interested in would be honored as stated on their website. We were told “no”. I explained that this was not fair, as this was apparently their website, although someone within their system may have made a huge error in publishing these figures. My husband and I left, and on my way back home, which is about a 40 minute drive, I asked my sister to please Google exactly the same steps that I did to see if the prices were still listed. She gladly did so. I gave her the pricing and description of one of the vehicles that I had been interested in to check on. Well, the prices had ALL miraculously changed to an increased price for cash and a lower price for the finance cost. So, I guess I’m to believe that the “internet hijacker” just happened to decide to change the prices just as the manager had stated to my spouse and I only moments earlier? I strongly believe this WAS their website all along. Otherwise, how were the prices able to be accessed and changed if it did not belong to Johnson Lexus? By the way, I have screenshots and time and date shots of all of this to prove I’m not making this up. I feel that a company like Lexus, which has profited over the years, could have absorbed whatever their loss may have been on that one sale, and THEN promptly corrected the website error. The lack of transparency, and refusal of admission to an error, was very surprising. They allowed a potential cash sale to walk out the door without even trying to offer a reduced price on their finance price! I feel that I also did them a favor by bringing it to their attention , as many others could have googled the same thing I did at some point, causing more confusion at their dealership. I do want to add that I feel that our salesman was genuine in his statement about never having seen prices listed as such. He did take the issue to his manger to be discussed, which is how we came to speak to the manager. I have no plans of ever purchasing or recommending a friend to purchase from them. More
I would never recommend anyone using this dealership for a car purchase. They are unreliable, disorganized, unprofessional and terrible at communicating. On top of that, her and the service department spoke negatively about each other as if they did not work for the same dealership. Very very unprofessional. The manager that I was able to work with was more helpful. Less than 90 days after purchase my vehicle engine died on the side of the road. I guess that should be no shock based on the experience with the service department. They do not take responsibility for anything and look to push responsibility to anyone but themselves. DO NOT trust this dealership, they are very dishonest!!! More
