They returned the vehicle to me in this condition, and I only noticed the damage when I arrived home and inspected the rear bumper. The damage is a deep gouge in the rear plastic bumper cover next to the hitch cutout and, because it is plastic, it cannot simply be repaired or buffed out. I was leaving the next day for Colorado to start a new job and needed the hitch to tow a trailer, so I could not leave the car for days of body work. The dealer later told me my options were: drive 1,200 miles back to San Diego so they could replace the bumper cover in-house, or accept $500. A quote from my local Subaru dealer in Colorado to replace the bumper cover is approximately $1,700, so $500 will not make me whole. When I asked for their insurance information so I could open a claim, they refused to provide it. In trying to figure out who ultimately stands behind this dealership, I researched the ownership and learned the dealership group is owned by a Mexico-based entity, which made it even harder to get clear accountability. Subaru corporate also declined to help, stating that the dealer is an independent contractor. In contrast, when a Cadillac dealer damaged my vehicle years ago, Cadillac corporate followed up after the visit and, once informed of the issue, had the dealer provide approximately $2,000 in Cadillac‑branded merchandise as compensation. I expected at least a comparable level of support from this dealership and from Subaru. I now have a brand new Subaru with a large gouge in the rear bumper, and no reasonable solution offered to cover the full cost of proper repair. Based on this experience, I would highly advise caution when doing business with this dealership, especially if you expect Subaru to stand behind the work performed in their name. More

The Finance Department Customer Service is one of the worst I have worked with. They don’t answer their phone when you call and when you finally get a hold of someone they have attitude as if you are bot worst I have worked with. I had to call multiple times about receiving a refund for a warranty that I purchased when I bought my vehicle. When I sold the vehicle I went into the store and talked with Finance Department, they said they would contact within the week to tell me how much I was getting for my refund. It has been 3 weeks and I have had to call them multiple times and I still do not have an answer. This type of customer service is unsatisfactory and I’m glad that I will not have to deal with Kearny Mesa Subaru in the future. It would be nice if they would returned my phone calls and emails.
