Abusive sales staff needing to be coddled. I went in to purchase a Tucson with and for my elderly mother in-law.I have purchased about 5 Hyundai cars over the last few years. She decided to switch to the Kona and so we were working on finalizing a deal and the salesmen Julian Parra from Keffer was having some difficulty clarifying "the bottom number" and sent over Sean "his manager" who was a muscle bound bull dog who was offended that I would say that I needed to do further research on the price. He was aggressive and dismissive,punctuated with some arm waving and muscle flexing, telling me that "there was nothing to discuss and that the price was rock bottom and firm" Until I stood up to leave at which point his prices changed..Not satisfied with me continuing to seek to leave he became more insulting and tried to get my elderly mother in-laws licence to run credit to tie her into his deal. The manager was adamant that "we would find no better deal anywhere" and very contemptuously kept repeating "good luck". Worst still was the manager repeating to my mother in-law how he"felt bad that she couldn't get the car that she wanted because I was in the way and that was a shame because "she seemed like such a nice lady"... The "store regional manager" approached me as I wait at near the exit doors for my mother in-law to return from the bath room and said he had heard "from 5 of his salesmen that I was "rude" to one of his managers" and that I was "not invited to ever return to the Hyundai dealership" I thought he was actually coming over top apologize to me. Wow , I wasn't sure if I was going to be physically assaulted as well. That crew gives Hyundai a bad name. I will reluctantly likely help my mother in-law with her Kona purchase,but doubt will look to trade in my santa fe and never buy another Hyundai again. More
Service Department Issues & Unprofessionalism I recently made a service appointment for 7:00am and dropped off my car for a problem with my AC. Took an Uber to work at my own expense as their shut I recently made a service appointment for 7:00am and dropped off my car for a problem with my AC. Took an Uber to work at my own expense as their shuttle didn't start until 8am. Seven hours later I call for an update and then get a call back from the Service Manager. He gives me an attitude that they never promised to have the car done by a particular time (e.g., it was my fault somehow -- xxx?). He then tells me he will call me back in 30 minutes. Never got a call back so got a ride at closing to pick up my car. I then learn that it sat there all day with no one ever even looking at it. The manager had already left for the day (not surprised). So I wasted a full day and my car just sat there even though I had a 7am appointment. One service employee was apologetic but I made it clear I was not coming back there. I would rate as zero stars but had to put one as a minimum. I'd to also share that while my car was there I received four phone calls from sales people at Keffer. If I ever consider another Hyundai I will never buy a car from this dealer. Perhaps its a matter of over-staffed on sales and under staffed on service, which sadly is the way most companies operate these days, Two days later I took my car to Fort Mill Hyundai dealer, which is 20 miles from my house (versus only 7 miles to Keffer Hyundai) and they fixed my AC and also recommended and fixed my back brakes too. Clearly they've got some management and personnel issues at Keffer, but next time step up and take care of the customer or at least own it when you mess up. More
Smooth Transaction I chose to buy at Keffer Hyundai in Matthews NC after a lot of research and phone calls to other Dealers including one 10 minutes from my home. I drov I chose to buy at Keffer Hyundai in Matthews NC after a lot of research and phone calls to other Dealers including one 10 minutes from my home. I drove 3 hours to Keffer for one main reason, they didn't lie to me on the phone, their ads were not misleading with fake sale prices. In other words, they were honest. I bought the car over the phone and it was ready and waiting for me the next day all paperwork in order......one hour at the dealer and I was ready to drive my new car home. I saved over $2,200 from the best price my local dealer would sell it to me for, after much negotiation. When I protested to the Dealer in Wilmington that his price was too high he told me that I was "out of touch" with new car buying ( he REALLY said out of touch ).....and that because of the internet creating competition, there was no longer very much dealer margin in new vehicles. "Well, son, this old dinosaur is NOT out of touch, I bought the same car at Keffer for exactly what I offered you in Wilmington. You should show respect to your elders, you'd sell more cars".......LOL Thank you Keffer sales crew for showing respect, honesty, and a really pleasant attitude. More
