Double Check With another Repair Shop Before Buying... I don't usually write reviews on businesses.. But. I purchased a 2008 Chevy Malibu with only 80,000 miles on it from Kopren less than six months ago. More

Kopren Motors responded

Jessica, thanks for the review. Good or bad, we always like to hear about our customers’ experiences and try our best to do right by them. The first thing I would like to address is the last comment you made about the type of vehicles we buy and sell. If you really think we buy “LEMONS” at auction and sell “CHEAP” cars to our customers to create “MONEY xxxxxxx PROBLEMS FOR THEM,” I am really sorry you ever bought a car from us to begin with. As this was your second vehicle you purchased from Kopren Motors I suspect you made those comments more out of frustration than really thinking that is how we do business. As for taking a vehicle to a third party, I also think that is a great idea. We encourage everyone to do that, so they know what they are buying. We always allow customers the opportunity to take a vehicle to any mechanic of their choosing prior to a purchase. I am a little bit familiar with your car and the situation you are experiencing. If I remember correctly, we have had your car in our shop on a couple different occasions for a “no start” issue. The last time we had your car for 2 days, and attempted to start the car over 100 times, and every time the car started just like it should. Most dealers charge for their time to “DIAG” a situation, but on all occasions we didn’t charge you a penny at all for our time. We couldn’t find the problem so we didn’t charge you. As for the check engine light, when you were in last, the shop instructed it was being created by 2 separate issues. 1 was a thermostat sticking in the open position code P0128. This would require a new thermostat. 2 was a sticking exhaust solenoid. This would require the replacement of that solenoid to fix the issue. These are both maintenance issues that can be fixed at your leisure. It would fall under general maintenance just like oil changes, things break or wear out over time and as the owner of the car you need to decide how you want to maintain it. You were quoted $369.17 for both issues which included parts and labor. You opted to pass on fixing those issues, so your check engine light will continue to be on. Your car doesn’t have “ELECTRICAL ISSUES” you just haven’t fixed the cause of the check engine light. As for maintenance I also see you have 2 open recalls on you 2008 Chevy Malibu that you have not taken care of. I would suggest that you get that done as soon as you find time, because those items will be free of charge to you. You must have that completed at your nearest Chevy Dealer. As for your warranty, you said we found problems “miraculously after your warranty expired.” I am unclear of your confusion, but you have a LIFETIME ENGINE WARRANTY on the 2008 Malibu you bought. That warranty came with your car at no additional cost. The “ENGINE” in that car will be covered the entire time you own the vehicle. Look thru your paperwork you will see the engine warranty it includes all internally lubricated parts either fixing or replacing your engine. As for covering the other repairs on your car, you and Sterling declined any additional coverage that would have covered these repairs we are discussing. Extended service contracts are available with all the vehicle we sell and you had the same opportunity to protect your purchase as everyone else that buys from us. Jessica, I am sorry you are unhappy with your purchase at Kopren Motors. We are still dedicated to making every customer happy and satisfied. If you are truly unhappy with your 2008 Chevy Malibu please give me a call (605) 718-2277 and I can see about getting you into a vehicle that makes you happy again. Thanks Mike Kopren
