The mechanic repeatedly told me I tried to weld the dipstick back together when I told him I didn't. When the previous dipstick broke (11-07-19) I ordered a new one from Lake Auto parts dept., and di dipstick back together when I told him I didn't. When the previous dipstick broke (11-07-19) I ordered a new one from Lake Auto parts dept., and didn't attempt to repair the old one, And how could I get the dipstick out to weld it anyway? I don't know how to weld and don't own one either. When I tried to check my oil, it was stuck and I twisted it a little and that's when it snapped. The metal was a little bent upwards, and the mechanic said it was a weld bead. I told him to look at it with a microscope and he would see it wasn't welded. He refused and just said I welded it because there was a heat mark on the dip stick, which there was. Although he was very helpful with pointing out the frame damage on my van and explaining about the heater core; I found his basically calling me a liar with the dipstick both extremely insulting and highly offensive. I would also say that he needs to know the difference between something being bent and snapped and being welded together. It makes me question his qualifications to be your mechanic. It was the worst experience I have had in over 50 years of driving and dealing with mechanics. More
