Great Sales (Mike) - Lacking elsewhere If it was not for Mike, we would not have purchased from Leith. If it was not for the Atlas, we would not have purchased a Volkswagen. Mike was knowledgeable and provided service and insight into the vehicles. We have nothing but praise for Mike. Even after the deal, he has worked to make things right where others have dropped the ball. In fact, due to Mike, we purchased two cars instead of one. However, after finishing with Mike the deal went south - and this was not my first, or second, or third new car purchase..... After pulling credit, our interest rates magically wandered by over 3%. After the check it was over 5%, and we were assured that was the best, yet we walked out over 3% lower without the sales manager even consulting his computer. We didn't change terms either (length of loan or money down). He simply stood in the room and changed the number because he could. How does that happen? Why were we not offered the best rate, and why were we told the first rate was the best. Take home message - go in skeptical. They will undercut you on trade value for an existing vehicle and offered us $4k less than another Leith dealership across the parking lot. We were told it was a car they would have a really hard time selling -yet they sold it within a week? To be fair, we closed out the deal around 11:00 in the evening and were the last people in the dealership. Yet, one car had a dead spare key, a moon roof issue, and had to be brought back in to be cleaned after they detailed it before delivery. And to schedule that appointment, I had to get VW corporate involved because the dealership would not do so every time I asked. Yet every time they were happy to ask me if I had completed the survey's yet......oh and upon showing up, there was still no service appointment on the books. The Golf TDi we purchased came with a 11 yr, 165k mile engine and emission warranty they did not disclose but happily up sold us on buying an extended warranty that offered less drive train coverage than the free extended warranty from VW. Oh, and the fact we were told the Golf had the emissions fix and was "complete" before purchase left us a little surprised when checking the VIN with VW and finding out it still needs a catalytic converter replaced. When asked by the GM days later, and provided the information above, I was told - "We didn't force you to buy a car". Does that sound like good customer service and how to build a good relationship? Then I was criticize by the GM for my survey responses. My response: If it was not for Mike, we would not have purchased from Leith. If it was not for the Atlas, we would not have purchased a Volkswagen. You see, Leith was the only dealership around with the limited edition Atlas we wanted, and we were told no more were coming in, so we didn't have a whole lot of choice in the matter if we wanted that car. So yes, we were not forced to buy a car, but I sure wish it was a better experience. More
