First off, thank you for considering doing business with our company! While we strive to get “5 Stars” on every one of our reviews, we fell short with this reviewer. That is why I’m taking the time to respond to it. At Lewis Toyota of Hays, it is our CONSTANT effort to provide great prices, and the top level of customer service to each of our customers. That same dedication to great prices and great customer service is how our dealership has won the Toyota Presidents Award 15 times over the course of our history. While I am disappointed that this reviewer wasn’t satisfied with this transaction, I do want to make everyone aware of several additional facts regarding this transaction that the reviewer has acknowledged in correspondence with us AFTER the sale. The 2006 Toyota 4-Runner in question was a one owner, local trade-in. The AutoCheck report, that we had the reviewer sign, showed this 4Runner scoring well ABOVE the top end of the normal scoring range for a 2006 4Runner and the interior condition of this 2006 4Runner was in absolutely immaculate condition. Addressing the reviewer’s claim about the vehicle arriving dirty, I would say this…why would a dealer (that hadn’t sold the vehicle to a customer yet) drive a DIRTY vehicle 200+ miles to SHOW it to a prospective customer? Our salesman drove several hundred miles to meet the reviewer and the 4Runner in question arrived to them in a clean condition considering the drive to meet the customer. We know the vehicle was clean when it left our dealership because we needed it to be clean so WE COULD TRY TO SELL IT. Once the 4Runner arrived, the reviewer was allowed ample time to drive it and review it closely and at no point in time were they under any pressure to purchase the vehicle should they have chosen not to. I would also like to address the concerns regarding necessary mechanical repairs. Our personnel drove this 2006 Toyota 4Runner several hundred miles to meet this customer and complete this transaction. There were absolutely no issues whatsoever with the vehicle during the course of that trip. Now let’s talk about the price. As the reviewer acknowledged in an email to me, he got an UNBELIEVABLE price on this 2006 Toyota 4Runner. The purchase price the reviewer got on this 4Runner was just 47.15% of NADA’s Suggested Retail Price, $2,675 LESS THAN loan value and $1,550 LESS THAN rough trade-in value. The reviewer lived several hundred miles away from us, (we know that because we delivered it 75% of the way to them!) and yet they bought the 2006 Toyota 4Runner from us. There are many reasons for that…the UNBELIEVABLE price we gave, and our willingness to drive it several hundred miles to meet him being two of the main ones! Going further…why would a dealer sell a PERFECT VEHICLE for only 47% of retail? They wouldn’t. We sold it for MUCH LESS because we acknowledged that the vehicle had some blemishes on it and did NOTHING to hide them from the reviewer when the vehicle was shown to them. In essence, before the reviewer purchased the 4Runner, they did have the chance to see it and review it for any blemishes. If the rust and etc was a deterrent, the reviewer had the option to not sign the paperwork or take delivery of this 4Runner. The reviewer paid $6,000 for a 4Runner that has PERFECT INTERIOR and an ABOVE AVERAGE EXTERIOR. They paid that low price even though the 4Runner had an NADA retail value of $12,725 at the time they took delivery of it. Unfortunately no matter how hard we try, we weren’t able to make this reviewer happy. That is disappointing. But…in this case, we know, (and the customer also acknowledged in an email) that the customer got a phenomenal price on this 4Runner. The dealership also drove hundreds of miles to deliver the vehicle and the paperwork to them. Even those two items weren’t enough to make this reviewer happy. As we go forward, our goal at Lewis Toyota of Hays remains the same…DELIVER GREAT PRICES and GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE! Thank you! Ross Harms General Manager
