I'm no car mechanic, but I am a mechanical engineer, so I believed a bearing was going out. Car was still under warranty so I took it in. Our warranty was the extended warranty, and I was told after the inspection that the fan checked out fine, and because of the warranty I had, labor was only covered if a problem was found. So I paid a few hundred bucks for nothing. By the time we had paid the bill and drove home, a 60 mile one way trip the fan was making the same noise. We take it back and they do replace the fan. But did they offer to give me my money back? Nope. About a year later what do you think is happening? Fan went out again. Doesn't sound like a quality part if you ask me. And again I asked the service technician why am I paying for this same service. If it were my company I would want to stand behind a part for a little longer than just a year. I've had a Ford truck for 10 years and it's blower hasn't gone out yet. I guess Toyota is saying their blowers are only good for a maximum of a year, but maybe you'll get lucky. So guess what, I paid for another blower. However during that maintenance they also took care of a couple of recalls. That is all fine and well, however when we drove home from the dealership the next day when the kids turned on the DVD players do you think they worked? Nope. Called up Toyota and they said well maybe they didn't get plugged back in when the maintenance happened. That's fine. It happens. So we make another trip up to topeka. I did mention that's 120 miles round trip, at least 2 hours of our time just getting there, potential cost of baby sitters etc. They take it apart and look, and no it's a 'module' that is causing it. After a few minute discussion it almost sounds like one of the features that was modified during the recall service rendered our DVD players nonfunctional. So guess what, we go home again with no remedy. Now here's the one that really gets me going. We get a call that this mysterious module is in so we can fix this thing. So we schedule another appointments just to show up and find out that, no it's not here. So what does that mean, well we drove up to topeka again for nothing but frustration. So here we are, I'd say about 7-8 trips to topeka to Lewis Toyota, 3 times to fix one problem at a cost to me when my vehicle was under warranty, and an additional 4-5 trips just to get the fan blower repaired again at my cost and to do some recall work, and while all of that is functioning again our DVD players aren't. And what really makes me upset is the attitude that it is possible that the issue with the DVD players might not by Lewis toyota's fault. That's what one of Lewis Toyota's employees said. We don't even know if we are responsible. Well I know one thing, they worked before I went there and now they don't. Big mystery! Meanwhile I'm out at least a grand with mileage, time, babysitting charges and at this point I almost do blame myself. Because not too many people would have went back to the same inept group of people that many times. Another interesting fact is that up until the last time we were there, and only because we brought it up, did lewis toyota offer any kind of offset to our expenses. And that was to fill up our gas tank. Almost insulting at this point. More
