## 82-Day Registration Failure, Legal Exposure, and Total Management Abandonment I purchased a new 2025 Lexus RX 500h from Lexus of Highland Park on April 15, 2026. While the sales associate handled the i Management Abandonment I purchased a new 2025 Lexus RX 500h from Lexus of Highland Park on April 15, 2026. While the sales associate handled the initial showroom transaction politely, the post-sale administrative handling and upper-management conduct fell completely below basic industry, legal, and consumer standards. **Improper Plate Transfer:** At delivery, dealership staff transferred and mounted my Nebraska personalized plates (“J STYLE”) onto the new vehicle. They assured me this was legal, despite my explicit objections that the plates belonged to my trade-in vehicle. **82-Day Loss of Legal Use:** Due to administrative mishandling and an original title reportedly lost in transit, the paperwork did not arrive until late Friday, July 3, 2026. Because of the holiday weekend, the vehicle could not be legally registered until Monday, July 6, 2026, depriving me of lawful use for 82 days. **Dismissive Management:** Sales Director Julio Gomez characterized an 82-day delay as “normal” and recklessly advised me to simply “show a police officer the bill of sale” if stopped while driving across state lines. **Documented Financial Losses:** Operating out of state with mismatched registration created serious legal, citation, and insurance risks. I was forced to cancel a planned road trip, incurring $1,800 in nonrefundable airline and travel expenses, while continuing to pay insurance and monthly loan installments on a vehicle that had to remain parked. **Broken Executive Commitments:** Mr. Gomez acknowledged the failure and promised a goodwill compensation package once the paperwork arrived. After the paperwork was received on July 3, Mr. Gomez, Director Julian Keller, General Manager Benjamin Nusinow, and Owner/Dealer Principal Alan Nusinow ceased all communication. They refused to answer calls, return emails, or honor their commitment. A luxury-car buyer should never face months of legal vulnerability, out-of-pocket financial damage, and complete abandonment by ownership once the funds have cleared. This matter has been escalated to Lexus Corporate and formally submitted to the Illinois Attorney General’s Consumer Fraud Bureau. Buyers—especially out-of-state customers—should exercise extreme caution before trusting this dealership’s administrative office and executive leadership. — Jerry E. Johnson More
Hypothetically, if I was a member of the Nusinow family, I would be removing a few members of my staff this week. Wayne Phillips sent me a deposit link to reserve a Lexus LC on July 2nd. Conveniently, fo I would be removing a few members of my staff this week. Wayne Phillips sent me a deposit link to reserve a Lexus LC on July 2nd. Conveniently, for him, he informed me at that very moment that it was being marked up $10K for inexpensive sealants and a half body PPF job. I asked him if we could negotiate to include a full body PPF as this was a collector's item. He went silent on me and sold it from under me. I think arithmetic is not his forte, as that would have added more margin for them. Bless his heart. Thank the universe that he's not in the finance department ;) Lexus corporate would agree that this is not Omotenashi, no matter what 'master' certification he claims to have. Demerit number one. I wrote to a sales manager, Kevin Bennett, to assist me. I explained what had happened, and was told that management would assist me from here. Kevin told me that he had two LC's inbound, neither reserved, and that the policy would be to begin taking offers on these as soon as they arrived in Chicago. I have recorded calls on all of this. Maybe this can be some weekend listening for their GM, Benjamin, on how to not run a business. Ray would certainly have done things differently. Kevin told me that all offers would be considered, even though I had already been promised a unit with my previous deposit link. He told me that they wanted to look at local buyers (I have a residence near Bartlett), and that a trade-in would be important (and luckily, I had a 2024 Lexus to offer up as tribute). For weeks, I would not be able to reach Kevin. Voicemails. Emails. Asking staff to put him on the phone. If things couldn't get more unprofessional, Kevin pawned me off on Mike Afanasyev. I politely declined to engage Mike, as I had spent hours already with Kevin. He had assured me that I would be able to place my offer once the LC arrived in person, and that he would assist me here on out...right?! Oh, Kevin. You're special. When I finally got Kevin live on a call last week, I told him that it had been confirmed to me that the car had arrived. I needed the appraisal done on my 2024 Lexus in order to submit my written offer on the LC. This was all presented as a formality, and I was happy to go along with it. I got him the VIN and a dozen photos of my car same-day since he suggested that we do it over email instead of in person in their dealership last Friday. Demerit two for ignoring me for the last five days, Kevin. If management can't tell a transparent and honest story, they shouldn't be have their position. I've managed teams from 5-500, and you would never last a week at one of my companies. It all makes sense now as to why you wouldn't meet me last week. You couldn't look me in the eye to tell me what you had done. To nobody's surprise, Mike Afanasyev texted me today, to tell me that the LC had sold. In the spirit of being a stereotypical car salesperson, lacking tact on all fronts and in desperate need of any commission, he tried to get me to buy a 2022 car that I've never once expressed interest in. Yuck. Demerit number three. You know what they say about three strikes and being out: Lexus of Highland Park is out of touch, out of ethics, and out of a five-star review. I expect some Android response from them, because they are a heartless and mindless operation. So let this factual recap be a cautionary tale to anyone considering a purchase or lease from Lexus of Highland Park: don't. You can't teach someone to live with good character. It's a personal choice, and I haven't met a single individual from this dealership with any. RIP, gents. More
It is second time that I work with Ryan Hurlbutt but for some reason he is not listed as a part of the Service Department. I consider him as very sincere, honest and hardworking member of the team. Alway some reason he is not listed as a part of the Service Department. I consider him as very sincere, honest and hardworking member of the team. Always does what he says. Makes people feel good about the dealership. In my time being a manager I was collecting people like him for my department. Nowadays it’s a rarity. More
Stay away from this dealership. We worked with David. We ordered a car and it took months to get. He added extra fees and packages that added thousands of dollars onto the price. My wife finds "the"car she has been looking for at Highland Park Lexus. She calls and talks to a saleslady who says yes the car is for sale and come in to test drive it. I was at work so my wife and Highland Park Lexus. She calls and talks to a saleslady who says yes the car is for sale and come in to test drive it. I was at work so my wife and daughter drove to the dealership. When they arrived and saw the car my wife told the saleslady she would put down a deposit to hold the vehicle until I could come purchase it after I got off work that day. The saleslady said no problem take it for a drive and we would take care of it afterwards. Then the most unbelievable thing happened. The saleslady texts my wife during the test drive that the car needs to be returned immediately. It has been SOLD?. How do you sell a car that's is on a test drive to be purchased?. Completely unprofessional. Complete waist of time and our money to drive there. Never again Highland Park Lexus you lost us as customers and looking at your feedback we are not alone. Disappointing Experience with Deceptive Sales Practices This marked my second time dealing with the same salesperson Vito, and I was drawn in by promises of a Black Friday discount, as well as Practices This marked my second time dealing with the same salesperson Vito, and I was drawn in by promises of a Black Friday discount, as well as being a returning customer. However, the overall experience turned out to be upsetting. After arriving at the dealership, when I asked about the price negotiation, the salesperson hurriedly pushed to run a credit check, promising a good discount for Black Friday and my loyalty as a returning customer. Unfortunately, after the credit check approval, the promised discount was taken back, with the explanation that discounts were not typically offered. This confusing and frustrating behavior left me feeling pressured into agreeing since they already ran a credit check. Further, upon leaving the dealership, I discovered a scratch/crack on the driver's side door window. The salesperson assured me not to worry, that it would be addressed, either by replacement or a compensatory check, when the technician was available to check it, even called car porter guy as a witness. This commitment turned out to be empty, as after his conversation with the technician, he said it was "nothing" and would not be fixed. If the salesperson had not assured me that it would be addressed, either by replacement or a compensatory check, I would not have left the dealership and would not have agreed to buy the car for this high price in the first place. Within less than a week of getting the vehicle, issues with a knocking noise from the back and heating surfaced, along with a tire pressure sensor problem. Seeking a resolution, I first called the salesperson to inform about the problems, Reminding him these issues should not have occurred given his assurance that all cars would undergo checks and fixes before sale. I also consulted with an independent technician who identified a potential problem with the sway bar/stabilizer link. However, the dealership's service department denied any issues with the suspension, leaving me with unresolved concerns. It turns out the salesperson did not inform the service department about my issues, and there was miscommunication since the service advisor claimed he needed permission from owned-car sales director and would inform me if they intended to do anything. I assume the salesperson and owned-car sales director didn't agree to fix suspension problems, leading to a "no issue in suspension" report. Yes, they changed the wipers, which costs around $10. The salesperson made me feel bad, saying they replaced one tire pressure sensor, something they could deny, despite assuring me that the car had been inspected before sale and was in great shape. In summary, my experience was ruined by broken promises, deceptive sales tactics, and a lack of accountability. The things what the salesperson promised and what actually went down afterward, both by the salesperson and the sales team, left me with disappointment and regret. More
We purchased a 2018 used vehicle and we’re given only 1 key fob. I have called numerous times to ask the sales person, David Kay, and have tried to speak with a manger with no response. The cost to get ano key fob. I have called numerous times to ask the sales person, David Kay, and have tried to speak with a manger with no response. The cost to get another key fob is $500. Besides this issue, there were other problems we had with the vehicle which took over 1 month to correct. I wouldn’t recommend this place to purchase a car. It’s not the customer service that we have been use to from other dealerships. More
Bait and switch fraudulent practices - Quoted a price/monthly payment for a car and accepted my deposit to place an order for a 2022 Lexus NX. Once the car was delivered to the dealership, got a t price/monthly payment for a car and accepted my deposit to place an order for a 2022 Lexus NX. Once the car was delivered to the dealership, got a text that the monthly payment would be going up due to changes in Lexus corporate incentives. Salesperson sent a text saying "this is not our dealerships fault." Well sadly I'll never own a Lexus again. More
Initially, when I inquired about the vehicle they responded right away. then I wanted to see it and called for 2 days before the Mike Brice called me and said the vehicle went to another dealer for w responded right away. then I wanted to see it and called for 2 days before the Mike Brice called me and said the vehicle went to another dealer for warranty work. said he expected the car to be returned at 3pm that day and he personally would call me the minute it came back(and everyone in the building knew he needed to know when it was back so he could contact me) I never heard back from him...not at 3pm, not later that night...not even the next day. I did hear from my original contact the next day who informed me another salesperson took a deposit on the car sight unseen and they weren't aware of this. Bottom line...I've never tried so hard to buy a car and failed! Definitely will not be a customer of this dealership for my future needs! More
