We have serviced/purchased 3 Volkswagens(one sedan and two wagons) with Liberty since 2001 even though others may be closer geographically. I think that says it all! two wagons) with Liberty since 2001 even though others may be closer geographically. I think that says it all! More
I did not buy my Golf from this dealership (moved here after I bought my car), but I have had a my car serviced here three times. One service was a scheduled maintenance, and the other two were unschedule after I bought my car), but I have had a my car serviced here three times. One service was a scheduled maintenance, and the other two were unscheduled visits. In each case, I was able to get an appointment quickly. The service manager (xxxx, I can't remember his name now) was very polite and full of good advice about my car. Once they even gave me a ride to work. Overall, I am very pleased with their work and the way they treated me. I would recommend their service department to my friends. More
I'll preface this by saying that I had agreed upon a price for the vehicle, with all fees and taxes included, prior to walking in there. After test driving two different 2007 Nissan Sentras, I had ma price for the vehicle, with all fees and taxes included, prior to walking in there. After test driving two different 2007 Nissan Sentras, I had made my decision on the car I wanted. Throughout this part of the process, Eddie in sales was very nice (of course). Naturally, any and all agreements leading up to the purchase of the car didn't matter to the Liberty Auto Plaza people, as they were still trying to drive up the price beyond what I was willing to pay. After settling on a price (keep in mind we're talking totals here, not sticker), Eddie tries to sneak in a $750.00 "mist" service that was essentially a car wash and an air freshener. Naturally, I flipped out and demanded my keys back (stupid me, I gave him my keys for my trade in), until he gave in and no longer tried to charge me for washing the car. However, he did make a last-ditch effort at tacking this cost on by sending in a voluptuous (in other words, top heavy), Liberty Auto employee to talk to me about it to see if she could convince me otherwise. I'm not a testosterone-laden teenager, so I did not relent. When we finally make it to the finance portion, Eddie tells me to wait outside of the finance office while he talks to Tony the finance guys privately. This takes about a half hour to 45 minutes. I can't think of a better way to build distrust with your customer than to have a private conversation about your customer's money with him there. When it finally comes time to sign the financial docs, I'm being hurried along by Tony the finance guys, though I meticulously evaluate every line item. I see a $2000.00 charge for an additional warranty I had not agreed upon (there was about a 1500 dollar warranty / certification attached to the vehicle I had agreed upon). Once again, I flip out, and am proud to say I made Tony sweat through his white shirt. The charge was eventually removed and I walk out with a good (not great) deal on my car. This in addition to getting low balled on the Volvo I traded in. Finally looking forward to getting out of there, I wind up waiting an hour to drive my car off the lot. The keys were on Eddie's desk, but he was out with another client. I asked several other salesmen to help me, but NOT ONE WOULD GET OFF HIS CHAIR TO GRAB KEYS FROM EDDIE'S DESK FOR ME. NOT ONE! An hour...to get keys... The icing on the cake was the fact that I left my IPass (toll road pass) in my used car when I traded it in. It took Eddie a week to ship it to me even though he found it and had it on his desk the day after I left. The experience lasted about 8 hours. I'm satisfied with my vehicle and satisfied with what I paid for it, but I worked way too hard to get it to that point and would never, ever, set foot in this dealership again. More

Too bad that every time my car needs work it is something major!! I plan on buying another VW from Liberty just to have Bill and Mike handle the service work on my car! More
Don't really remember who I bought my 2007 Jetta from back in 2008, but I do remember the service guys, Bill and Mike. I have to admit since my warranty ran out, I don't go to the dealership for rep back in 2008, but I do remember the service guys, Bill and Mike. I have to admit since my warranty ran out, I don't go to the dealership for repairs because dealership prices in general are waaaaaay too high, but when I did go there, Bill and Mike were super friendly and helpful. It a credit to them that I can still remember their names. I am terrible with names. I would continue going to Liberty just for those guys if I could afford to! Kate More
Overall this was a fairly pleasant experience. I live in Chicago and needed something that is good on gas for my commute but wanted something slightly luxury as well. I searched online for a Volkswagen Pass Chicago and needed something that is good on gas for my commute but wanted something slightly luxury as well. I searched online for a Volkswagen Passat and found that Liberty had the lowest price out of all the surrounding dealerships. I literally test drove the car and purchased it on my lunch break. It was amazing how fast they worked me in and out of the dealership. I would for sure recommend them to anyone looking for a new or used foreign car. They even printed the clean CarFax. More
